Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment. Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc. Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers are informed if any additional service is needed. Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs. Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications. Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts. Document all work performed on the repair order. Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs as assigned by service manager. Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins. Ensure that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle. Keep shop area neat and clean. Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Return them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received. Understand, kept abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc. Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner. Report any safety issues immediately to management. Employee will be required to repair and replace tires on commercial vehicles at the Colony location, customer locations and on service calls on the side of a highway, as well as other duties as assigned by the manager. Follow established procedures to inspect tires, and wheels before and after service. Determine repairable tire conditions and make such repairs. Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors. Document work performed accurately and according to company policy. Unbolt and re-bolt wheels from/to vehicles, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools. Mount and dismount any type of tire on drop center, semi-drop center and multi-piece rims. Match mating of dual assemblies. Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size, ply, and load requirement. Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels. Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels. Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects. Pull vehicles in and out of shop safely. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Mechanical- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Operation and Control- Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
