Tire Technician Classification Non-Exempt Job Summary The Tire Technician is responsible for maintaining and servicing customers' unit tires. Essential Functions Inspect, install, repair, and replace tires on material handling equipment, including forklifts, industrial vehicles, and heavy machinery. Summary: To service customer vehicles in a professional and timely manner by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Use all safety related PPE such as gloves, safety glasses and tire cages while doing any work. Raise vehicles using hydraulic jacks Unbolt wheels from vehicles and remove them, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools. Separate tires from wheels, using rubber mallets and metal bars or mechanical tire changers. Inspect tire casings for defects, such as holes and tears. Seal punctures in tubeless tires by inserting adhesive material and expanding rubber plugs into punctures, using hand tools. Reassemble tires onto wheels. Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size and ply. Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels. Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels. Remount wheels onto vehicles. Locate punctures in tubeless tires by visual inspection or by immersing inflated tires in water baths and observing air bubbles. Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects. Rotate tires to different positions on vehicles, using hand tools. Assist mechanics and perform other duties as directed. Inflate inner tubes and immerse them in water to locate leaks. Clean sides of whitewall tires. Prepare rims and wheel drums for reassembly by scraping, grinding, or sandblasting. Reliability - The trait of being dependable and trustworthy. Inspect, diagnose and repair to specifications - vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, steering, suspension and alignment, braking, air conditioning, and computer systems. Requirements Our Ideal Candidate Will Possess: Ford Certification Experience in automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience to succeed in this position. A high level of motivation and energy and strong customer service skills are also required. Appropriate hand tools necessary for services performed. Safe working knowledge of shop tools and equipment such as scanners, electrical diagnostic equipment, A/C recovery equipment, fluid exchange equipment, lift operation, etc. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and A/C Refrigerant handling certifications are a plus, but not required unless performing A/C or other license required services. Ability to identify, comprehend and act on changing requirements; ability to work well under different environment conditions. Ability to bend, stoop, reach and retrieve; lift, move, carry, and load items of various sizes and weights in operable and undamaged condition. Ability to communicate and understand English and Spanish; including reading and writing. Maintain a valid driver license, ability to drive a variety of vehicle types, insurable. High School Diploma or equivalent Working Conditions: Must be able to stand on concrete or metal surfaces for extended periods of time. Full-time Description BERT OGDEN TOYOTA SERVICE LUBE TECHNICIAN The Lube Technician is responsible for performing express lube duties on vehicles. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Adheres to express lube guidelines. Performs lube, oil and filter changes by draining and replacing oil and filter, and lubricating all joints, including idler arm steering knuckles, tie rods ends and ball joints. Reports all necessary repairs to service advisor. Installs completed LOF reminder sticker in vehicle. Checks battery, tire air pressure, windshield fluid, transmission fluid and power steering fluid levels and refills as needed. Checks coolant level and refills as necessary. Ensures that vehicle is clean and free of fluid residue or fingerprints. Checks fluid level prior to release of vehicle to ensure proper levels.
