Responsible for repairing, replacing, and maintaining tires on all DOT Equipment Job Duties will include but not limited to: • Preventative maintenance and repair all Tires on Semi-Trailers to meet the standards set forth by DOT • Install new tires and wheels • Perform maintenance on tires, Including rotation, balancing repairs and cleaning • Repair tires • Remove and replace hubs • Clean up work area at the end of shift • Keep work areas neat and orderly • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions • Organizing materials to have more effective use of space • Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner • Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed Qualifications • DOT certifications • Must pass a medical physical, drug screen and background check • Must be punctual and good attendance required for this position • Preferred - high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable • Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus • Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands • Diesel Mechanic school or certification a plus Job Expectations Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, & SA Recycling safety, health, & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures. Job Description GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Wheel and Brake Shop Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, overhaul, and functional testing of aircraft wheels, brakes, tires, and associated components in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer maintenance manuals, and Phoenix Air Group policies. This position supports multiple aircraft types operated by Phoenix Air Group and plays a critical role in ensuring aircraft safety, reliability, and mission readiness. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform inspection, disassembly, cleaning, repair, assembly, and functional testing of aircraft wheel and brake assemblies • Replace brake linings, seals, bearings, bolts, and hardware in accordance with approved data • Service, mount, demount, inflate, and balance aircraft tires • Perform corrosion control, painting, and preservation of wheel and brake components as required • Conduct component measurements, wear checks, and life-limit tracking • Utilize calibrated tools, torque wrenches, and test equipment correctly • Ensure all work is accomplished in compliance with FAA regulations (14 CFR), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), and Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM) • Properly document all maintenance actions in aircraft and component records • Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free shop environment SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS • Federal Aviation Administration Airframe Certificate (Powerplant preferred) • Working knowledge of aircraft wheel and brake system • Ability to read and interpret technical data, manuals, drawings, and illustrated parts catalogs • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Talk and/or hear routinely throughout the day • Sitting is required • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and/or balancing all day • Use fingers and hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus • Work in hangars, on the flight line, or in repair shops utilizing hand, power tools, test equipment • Work outdoors in inclement weather conditions enduring high noise levels when making emergency repairs Must be able to pass drug and background screen.
