Service Technician Apprentice The Service Technician Apprentice position is a great learning opportunity. Your focus will be on learning common home repair skills and providing customers with exceptional service. As a Service Technician Apprentice your primary responsibility is to repair common service problems associated with offsite built housing. Use all safety related PPE such as gloves, safety glasses and tire cages while doing any work. Raise vehicles using hydraulic jacks Unbolt wheels from vehicles and remove them, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools. Separate tires from wheels, using rubber mallets and metal bars or mechanical tire changers. Inspect tire casings for defects, such as holes and tears. Seal punctures in tubeless tires by inserting adhesive material and expanding rubber plugs into punctures, using hand tools. Reassemble tires onto wheels. Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size and ply. Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels. Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels. Remount wheels onto vehicles. Locate punctures in tubeless tires by visual inspection or by immersing inflated tires in water baths and observing air bubbles. Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects. Rotate tires to different positions on vehicles, using hand tools. Assist mechanics and perform other duties as directed. Inflate inner tubes and immerse them in water to locate leaks. Clean sides of whitewall tires. Prepare rims and wheel drums for reassembly by scraping, grinding, or sandblasting. Reliability - The trait of being dependable and trustworthy. Service Technician Responsibilities Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership. Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment. Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc. Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers are informed if any additional service is needed. Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs. Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications. Qualifications Previous experience at an automotive dealership Strong understanding of the service drive Years of experience vary per position High school diploma or equivalent Dexterity, requiring a steady hand, excellent hand-eye coordination Mechanical and troubleshooting skills Excellent customer service skills Basic computer competencies Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer service mentality Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment Team player with ability to collaborate with others effectively Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications Able to operate electronic diagnostic equipment Valid driver's license and clean driving record Willing to submit to pre-employment drug screen and background check We are an equal opportunity employer.
