Position Title: On-call Substitute Worker Program(s) and Location: Crisis Respite Center, Palmer Apartments, Outreach & Engagement Center (Sacramento, CA) Schedule : On-Call, as-needed basis covering various shift schedules (may require working day, evening, overnight, and weekend schedules), applicants would need to be flexible with the varying schedules that require coverage Pay rate: $19.96/hour About the Position: In our residential programs, the Substitute Worker has the responsibility of working closely with residents who are progressing toward independent living. The Substitute Worker provides the daily support needed for each resident to function at the highest possible level. These supports will include emotional support, demonstrating and teaching living skills, coordinating program activities, and facilitating groups, and client activities. At our Crisis Respite Center (CRC), the Substitute Worker will assist individuals in managing their crisis and will offer information, advocacy, and referrals for continued assistance and support after they leave the CRC. The (CRC) is a program designed to provide any Sacramento / Sacramento County resident (18 years and older) who is experiencing a mental health hardship/crisis a place to go to receive support and gain hope for a resolution. The CRC is a person-centered program, providing a welcoming and non-judgmental environment for individuals who need relief from the stresses of life, and who need assistance in stabilizing their mental health crisis. The individuals who come to the CRC may be experiencing a wide variety of mental health issues. Please note, this position is on an as-needed basis, there is no guaranteed hours and/or shifts. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Support individuals with active listening, demonstration of empathy and carry a message of hope and recovery Observe, assess, intervene and refer (within one's scope of practice) in situations with clients regarding mental health symptoms, physical health symptoms and substance use issues Develop service/goal plans with clients and meet with the clients as needed to encourage, support and advocate for progress and assist with skill development Provide positive public relations, community referrals, information and support by linking clients to needed resources; advocate with and on behalf of clients and significant support persons the clients have identified Accurately complete all necessary forms, reports and paperwork required by the program on a timely basis (e.g., progress notes, special incident reports, discharge summaries, Medi-Cal billing, Avatar forms, HMIS) Shop for food and household supplies to meet program or client needs Ensure the office, house, rooms, units and yard are clean and fit for occupancy, where applicable. Provide and assist with cleaning as needed Act as a designated Mandated Reporter for the observed or suspected abuse and/or neglect of children, disabled individuals, dependent adults and elder/senior citizens. Mandated Reporter also includes “Duty to Warn” which includes the responsibility to notify authorities and the intended victim(s) of physical harm Ensure the protection and confidentiality of all Protected Health Information Qualifications: Ability to work with individuals who have a mental health diagnosis. Position Description: The Quality Assurance Specialist, reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the organization's Medi-Cal billing programs. This role supports the revenue cycle by reviewing claims, identifying errors, monitoring billing trends, and ensuring adherence to payer rules, coding guidelines, and internal standards. The Specialist also monitors the quality of services provided through routine chart audits, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and county requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in behavioral health billing practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (includes the following; other duties may be assigned) Review and update clients' Medi-Cal eligibility on a monthly basis, and prepare and distribute an eligibility spreadsheet to the assigned program to ensure accurate billing and timely reimbursement. Process medical record requests from a variety of agencies-including Social Security, attorneys, courts, physicians, and individuals-while ensuring strict adherence to all HIPAA-compliant guidelines and confidentiality regulations . Provide feedback, training, and quality improvement recommendations to billing staff, clinicians, and administrative teams. Collaborate with billing leadership to refine workflows, enhance quality standards, and support ongoing process improvement initiatives. Identify trends, errors, or process gaps that lead to denials, delays, or billing inconsistencies. Must have basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); proficiency in all USRC applications required within 90 days of hire. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills are required. Position Title: Housing Resource Specialist Program(s) and Location: CORE X (Sacramento, CA) Schedule : Full-time, Non-Exempt, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (may require working some evenings and weekend schedules) Pay rate: $24.49 - $27.00 depending on education and experience. About the Position: The Housing Specialist has the responsibility to assist clients to find housing and support housing, form relationships with landlords to increase housing availability for clients, coordinate the rental subsidies with the agency's Property Management, formulate housing plans, and provide other housing support. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Support individuals with active listening, demonstration of empathy, and carry a message of hope and recovery. Observe, assess, intervene, and refer (within one's scope of practice) in situations with clients regarding mental health symptoms, physical health symptoms, and substance use issues. Work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide integrated psychosocial rehabilitative services to clients in the community and their homes, and attend meetings to ensure continuity of care for clients. Develop service/goal plans with clients and meet with the clients as needed to encourage, support and advocate for progress and assist with skill development. Provide positive public relations, community referrals, information, and support by linking clients to needed resources; advocate with and on behalf of clients and significant support persons the clients have identified. Accurately complete all necessary forms, reports, and paperwork required by the program on a timely basis (e.g., progress notes, special incident reports, discharge summaries, Medi-Cal billing, EHR forms, and HMIS). Shop for food and household supplies to meet program or client needs. Ensure the office, house, rooms, units, and yard are clean and fit for occupancy, where applicable. Provide and assist with cleaning as needed. Act as a designated Mandated Reporter for the observed or suspected abuse and/or neglect of children, disabled individuals, dependent adults, and elder/senior citizens. Mandated Reporter also includes “Duty to Warn” which includes the responsibility to notify authorities and the intended victim(s) of physical harm. Transport clients as needed. Ensure the protection and confidentiality of all Protected Health Information (PHI) by following all policies and procedures in the agency's HIPAA Manual. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Use motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and harm-reduction practices. Qualifications: Ability to work with individuals who have a mental health diagnosis. Experience is highly desirable Experience with persons who have substance abuse problems, preferably individuals who are dually diagnosed (mental health & substance abuse) is highly desirable Lived experience as a mental health consumer or a family member/loved one of a mental health consumer is desirable Mental health crisis intervention experience is highly desirably Medi-Cal billing experience, rehab experience, and assessment writing skills are highly desirable Preferred Qualifications: Meet the qualifications of a Mental Health Assistant III (MHA III): A minimum of four (4) years of full-time equivalent (FTE) direct care experience in the mental health field providing mental health services; OR Two (2) years of FTE direct care experience in a mental health-related field providing mental health services and two years of education (60 semesters or 90 quarter units) with a minimum of 12 semesters (18 quarter units) in a mental health-related subject such as child development, social work, human behavior, rehabilitation, psychology or alcohol and drug counseling; OR Two (2) years of FTE direct care experience in a mental health-related field providing direct mental health services and a certificate of completion from the County Core Skills Training ( MHRS highly desired ) Other Skills, Abilities, and Job Requirements: Ability to pass clearance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and/or Department of Justice (DOJ) background screenings.
