TLD America Corporation company history timeline

1930

The company saw further expansion in the 1930’s thanks to a cooperation with Compagnie Générale d’Electricité, which lasted for more than two decades.

1950

In the late 1950’s, ACE helped usher in the space age with custom designed environmental control systems for launch pad use.

With the introduction of jet airliners in the mid 1950’s, the ACE product line expanded to include airline ground support equipment (stored air or Bottle Jet Starters) and support equipment for use by utility companies at gas turbine power generating plants.

1951

In 1951 the company was listed on the Paris Stock Exchange under its new name Tissmétal Lionel-Dupont.

1953

TLD ACE was founded in 1953, under the name of Accessory Controls & Equipment Corporation, to manufacture unique test equipment for the aviation industry.

1957

ALBRET was founded in 1957 in Montpellier, France.

1960

Further evolution and development of the product line throughout the 1960’s resulted in corporate growth and added military applications to the existing environmental control products.

1962

Devtec Corp, now known as TLD America, was established in 1962 by Mr.

1963

The first passenger stairs were produced in 1963.

1970

By the 1970’s, ALBRET had become a dynamic company well known in the aviation industry in Europe, Africa and the Middle Orient.

1978

Devtec opened its first local office in Asia in 1978 with Mr.

1980

Prior to the sale, L&D was a successful Tennessee-based corporation that had been in business since 1980.

In 1980 TLD ACE introduced the first screw compressors for the ground support industry.

In the early 1980’s TLD ACE was instrumental in developing the world’s largest screw compressors with female rotor drive.

1983

In 1983, the first ACE continuous flow jet starter with an AERZEN compressor was designed and produced.

1985

When the company sold its metal manufacturing business in 1985, it was renamed Teleflex Lionel-Dupont (TLD).

1989

In 1989, TLD ACE purchased the assets of NORDCO to further expand the product range of ACE.

1990

TRACMA (baggage tractors and aircraft tractors) and ALBRET (passengers stairs and lavatory and water trucks) were acquired in 1990.

TLD ACE introduced the first ground support environmental control system to use R-134a, an ozone safe refrigerant in 1990, the same year it introduced its GPU line.

In order to strengthen its position in Asia, Devtec opened its first overseas manufacturing facility in Taiwan in 1990.

1992

At the time, the TLD Group offered a complete line of GSE, further enhanced by TLD’s purchase of Lantis in the United States in 1992.

1993

ALBRET’s leading product is the ABS-580, developed in 1993, boasting special features such as: • Steps made of a rigid aluminium profile • An all fibreglass body which could be easily painted • Fire resistant polyester side panels • Removable canopies made of aluminum and translucent polycarbonate

1997

The group opened its first factory in China in 1997.

1998

In 1998, ALBRET developed and manufactured its first electric self-propelled passenger stairs.

2002

In 2002, TLD relocated its loaders’ factory from California to Sherbrooke, Canada and the passenger stairs product range from Montpellier to Saint Lin, France.

In 2002, the Montpellier site was closed and the ALBRET product lines were transferred to the TLD Saint Lin site, where they continue to prosper today.

Devtec Asia, renamed TLD Asia in 2002, is the pioneer of GSE supply in Asia Pacific, having supported its customers there for more than 35 years.

2006

In 2006, the TLD ownership structure changed from a listed to a privately owned company, and was acquired by ALVEST, a company specially formed by AXA Private Equity in partnership with the TLD group management.

2008

TLD Logistics Services Inc. (TLD) was formed by Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. (TAI) after the purchase of L and D Transportation Services Inc. (L&D) in November 2008.

In 2008, SAGE PARTS, the leading provider of GSE replacement parts, also joined the ALVEST group.

Following the Shanghai plant, a second factory was opened in Wuxi in 2008.

An additional factory was set up in Wuxi in 2008 to accommodate the growth of the Asian market.

2009

In 2009, TLD started its engineering and manufacturing cooperation for the ambitious TaxiBot program.

2012

The Wuxi plant was moved to a larger, purpose built site in 2012.

2013

In 2013, the group management & LBO France acquired ALVEST from AXA Private Equity, further strengthening the continuity and direction of the group.

2014

TLD’s growth continues in 2014 with a new factory for the TaxiBot program.
