Job Description:
We are looking for a passionate and highly experienced Principal Engineer to augment our team. As a Principal Engineer on the Infrastructure team you will be a technical leader within the organization and will be responsible for guiding technical strategy, driving innovation, and mentoring junior engineers. You will be overseeing projects, making high-level design decisions, and ensuring technical solutions align with business goals.
Infrastructure engineers work closely with engineering teams to build and operate the services that make up various product platforms at Sun Life. Here are the key duties that our Engineers perform:
Monitoring and updating our infrastructure in Kubernetes and AWS
Identifying security gaps and looking for ways to remediate
Writing and reviewing Terraform code to manage infrastructure
Creating new dashboards and helping teams understand their services
through monitoring
Documenting everything you discover in our docs repo in GitHub
Taking on new backlog items in our agile process of two-week
development iterations
Mentoring engineers on operational best practices for their owner-
operated services
Experience with AWS Workspaces a plus
Technology we use(not exhaustive):
Amazon Web Services (EC2, EKS, Lambda, RDS, etc), Terraform, CI/CD Tooling,
and other modern DevOps Technologies.
Python, go Lang, MySQL, OpenSearch, Redis
Requirements
7+ Years of experience in a software engineering discipline
Experience debugging infrastructure issues and improving reliability and
performance
Experience working in operations or infrastructure in a DevOps or SRE
environment
Willingness to participate in On-Call rotations
Experience working with various AWS Technologies
Proficiency with at least one language (Python, Ruby, Bash, Go, whatever
works!)
Proficiency with Linux
Handling of security issues, with a background in the field a plus
Bachelor's degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience
Salary Range: $127,900 - $191,900

Summary:
The Design Engineer, reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, is responsible for the design and development of new products following a Stage Gate Process. They will support operational activities including Manufacturing and Quality. They will provide Sales and Marketing support. The ideal candidate will have a focus on continuous improvement and Lean Activities.
Essential Functions:
Engineering and Design of locking, operating, and rolling components used in the residential window and door (fenestration) industry.
Provide technical solutions for existing product improvement opportunities.
Interface with sales team and customers to provide market driven product solutions.
Provide designs that meet volume and budget expectations which involve domestic and overseas supply/manufacturing options.
Drive value engineering of existing and new product development based on market needs.
Develop and adhere to test protocols to ensure current and new products meet market performance and operational benchmarks.
Support Manufacturing and QC departments to resolve production issues related.
Maintain documentation of existing products per engineering document control protocol.
Operate on-time and within budget.
