WORK YEAR: 187 work days, 7.5 hours/day, Working hours are Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:30 am - 4:30pm
WORK STATUS: Classified Full Time, Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Early Childhood Center. Day to day supervision is by classroom Teacher and Educational Coordinator.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing assistance to the early childhood teacher in the supervision and general activities of the children enrolled at the Sheridan Early Childhood Center. Responsible for providing assistance to special education students in attainment of Individual Education Plans in support of and working with and at the direction of special education and regular education teachers. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reinforces classroom learning concepts and support for all typically developing children and special education children in the classroom as directed by the early childhood teaching staff and the early childhood special education staff.
Assists on field trips and with a variety of life skills experiences.
Monitors and assists with child behavior management.
Monitors child progress and assists in providing adaptations and taking observations in learning environment.
Attend various meetings and staffings as needed.
May perform diapering and toileting as needed.
May require additional training for special health and educational purpose.
Assists in home visitations, parent conferences and engages parents to contribute to learning opportunities within their child's pre-school experiences

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
High School diploma or G.E.D.
A minimum of two Early Childhood Education Classes from an Accredited College ( ECE 101, ECE 102, ECE 103 or ECE 238) or CDA
One to three years' experience working in early childhood education environment.

Persons performing service in this position classification will occasionally exert 5 to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move students or objects. This type of work involves frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and occasional sitting, reaching, stooping and squatting. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
CLEARANCES:
Must clear background check through Colorado Department of Human Services in addition to an online Records check with National Sex Offender Registry, State of Colorado Child Abuse and Neglect Registry and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Must also submit receipt of a Physical completed within one year of date of hire.
SALARY:
Salary range is 17.89-19.64 an hour.

Employees who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week in the 2025/2026 school year are eligible to obtain district health benefits which include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and supplemental benefits. Positions that qualify for health benefits also qualify for leave which could include vacation and daily leave to be determined by the position and number of days assigned. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by state statute to contribute 11% of salary on a pre-tax basis to PERA. The District contributes 21% in addition to employee contribution.
