Duties
Develop, plan, and deliver an age-appropriate curriculum aligned with Florida Standards.

Supervise and mentor assistant teachers / aides in the classroom. Provide guidance, support, and direction.
Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized classroom environment. Ensure the classroom is set up with developmentally appropriate learning centers.
Observe, assess, and document each child's growth and development. Identify milestones, learning needs, and provide interventions as needed.
Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress, participate in parent-teacher conferences, respond to parent questions or concerns.
Ensure compliance with all state licensing, program requirements, health safety regulations (including CPR/First Aid, background checks, etc.).
Maintain accurate records: attendance, incident/accident reports, developmental assessments, lesson plans, etc.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, workshops, and training to stay current on best practices in early childhood education.
Collaborate with center leadership and other teachers to support overall program quality, including contributions to enrollment, retention, and center goals.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Florida's teacher credential requirements (certified to teach VPK, DCF 45-Hour training, or equivalent; CDA preferred).
Previous experience teaching preschool or VPK, with demonstrated experience leading a classroom.
Strong knowledge of child development principles and Florida standards.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to pass state background checks and meet licensing requirements.
Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Patience, creativity, flexibility, and a nurturing disposition.
Physical Qualifications:
Ability to move around the classroom frequently, assist with children, sit/kneel/squat.
Ability to lift and carry children or materials (up to regulatory limits).

Enforce and model proper handwashing procedures to children throughout the day.
Report all incidents, accidents, or safety concerns immediately to the Director.
Report any broken or malfunctioning equipment to the Director promptly.
Attend all staff meetings as required.
Participate in workshops or classes to complete the 10-hour State Mandated In-Service Training requirement.
Demonstrate flexibility in schedule, including teaching at both center locations as needed.
Notify the Director at least two weeks in advance for scheduled appointments.
Notify the Director immediately if running late or calling out sick to ensure proper staffing and classroom ratios.
Adhere to all regulations and mandates set forth by the Florida Department of Children and Families, Florida Health Department, and Fire Safety Authorities.
Qualifications
Early Childhood Education certification or degree preferred.
Knowledge of D.C.F., NAEYC, and School Readiness Coalition requirements, including health and safety regulations.
Experience implementing Learning Beyond Paper Curriculum and Florida Standards in lesson planning.
Familiarity conducting developmental assessments on children.
Completion of 10 Hours of State-Mandated In-Service Training annually.

Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with children, parents, and staff.
Capable of maintaining organized learning centers, materials, schedules, and documentation.
Able to plan and implement structured, developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities.
Willing and able to adapt to changes in schedule, classroom needs, or center locations.
Demonstrates empathy and understanding when responding to children's emotional and developmental needs.
Provides a warm, caring, and supportive classroom environment that promotes trust and emotional well-being.
Arrive each day with a clean and professional appearance, as a reflection of the care and respect we show to the children and families we serve.
