ESSENTIAL DUTIES Under the direction of the Childcare Services Manager and the Head Teacher, participates in planning and implementing appropriate activities promoting the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of young children. Assists in the supervision of children and is responsible for ensuring their health, safety and overall well-being. Assists in the development and maintenance of an environment which is stimulating, inviting, and responsive to the needs of the children enrolled in the program and their families. Establishes a nurturing relationship with the children and serves as an appropriate role model for them. Assists in maintaining necessary records and reports pertaining to the children in the Early Childhood Teacher's care, and as required by the Department of Children and Family Services, DCFS. Assists in providing a flexible program which is responsive and individualized to the immediate needs or demands of a particular child or situation. Assists in the care of classroom equipment and materials and maintains an organized and neat environment. As assigned and required by the supervising staff and University Coordinator the student teacher participates in staff meetings, staff trainings and program-related activities. Works cooperatively and communicates clearly with other staff, supervisors, parents, and the public. Assists with the coordination of one or more of the following areas; field trip program, in-service training, special events, monthly newsletters, intakes, scheduling, enrollment, and other program-related activities.
