WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR - YWCA Spokane ECEAP is looking for a Teacher Aide who will be responsible for assisting and supporting requirements of daily operations of a preschool classroom in ECEAP. This position is responsible for guiding children for specified periods of time in the absence of the Lead and/or Assistant Teacher. This position also requires participation as a team member of the Direct Service Team (DST) and requires the partnership between parents to provide integrated, intentional, and quality services to children and their families. Enhancing and promoting growth in children's physical and intellectual competence by engaging in physical, cognitive, language, and creative skills development activities. Assisting children with daily tooth brushing practices and sanitation practices for health and safety. Ensuring children's access to water during all hours of class schedule. Emotional and Trauma-Informed Support Providing emotional support and regulation skills that are trauma-informed, following conscious discipline philosophies and practices. Supporting and managing children from high-risk environments through trauma-informed practices. Program Coordination and Compliance Communicating with parents in the absence of Lead Teacher or as needed to actively involve parents in all aspects of the program. Assisting in completing incident, accident, and mandated reports as needed. Maintaining up-to-date on-site personnel files meeting certification standards. Build and maintain a positive, caring relationship with all students. Toilet/diaper and feed students, if necessary; may include tube feeding and catheterization. QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or equivalent. * Valid Washington State driver's license or evidence of mobility. * Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance. * I-9 for verification of identity and employment eligibility for work in the United State * Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from the hire date. WORKING CONDITIONS Duties are normally performed in a school/classroom environment. Duties may be occasionally performed on field trips away from the school. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms; walk; sit; stoop or kneel; crouch or crawl. Duties may involve risk resulting from attending to students' physical or sanitation/hygiene needs. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR Building Principal/ Classroom Teacher TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT All substitute positions are on an on-call as-needed basis. Salary: The substitute rate will be Step 1 for the position on the negotiated PSE salary schedule. Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed before employment commences. The successful candidate for this position must complete a fingerprinted background check with the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Employment is contingent upon clearance of the background check.
