Complete required human resources checks as need including but not limited to; WV CARES background checks, CPS, physicals, TB/PPD risk assessment etc. Maintain first/aid/CPR certification; complete 15 hours of stars approved training yearly. Training in child abuse/ neglect detection, first aid and CPR, CPI, Food Handlers, and other required trainings.
Attend staff meetings and supervision meetings with Program Director, as scheduled.
Flexibility in scheduling as needed by the program.

Autism Mentor meets the qualifications of Aide III, has successfully completed the staff development as determined by the West Virginia Department of Education and has two years of experience working with autism students. Paraprofessional means a person certified pursuant to section two-a [18A-3-2a], article three of this chapter to perform duties in a support capacity including, but not limited to, facilitating in the instruction and direct and indirect supervision of students under the direction of a principal, a teacher or another designated professional educator and has completed thirty-six semester hours of post-secondary education or its equivalent in subjects directly related to performance of the paraprofessional job and as approved by the West Virginia State Board of Education in Policy 5202. (Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8). ECCAT means a person certifed through the WVDE as a temporary or permanent Early Childhood Classroom AssistantTeacher. Pursuant to Policy 5202, upon acceptance of an ECCAT position, ECCAT Aides must apply for Temporary ECCAT Status and complete specified ECCAT courses through the WV Dept. of Education within a 3-year period of time.

Berkeley County Schools seeks a Pre-K Special Needs Teacher for the Pre-K program. The successful candidate is expected to teach the Pre-K curriculum to students with special needs, including children with mild to moderate disabilities using or modifying the general education curriculum to meet the child's individual needs. The program is designed to prepare children for school by offering a range of experiences based on early learning standards. It offers a balance of activities, including active and quiet times, large and small group activities, center times, indoor and outdoor play times, and child-initiated and teacher-planned activities. Berkeley County Pre-K programs use Creative Curriculum. In addition, foster physical, intellectual, emotional, and social growth; develop class and safety rules and procedures; monitor student progress; complete and maintain appropriate records; and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. A classroom aide is provided.
Salary Schedule
Berkeley County Schools Teacher Pay Scale based upon degree level and verified years of experience. 200-day employment term.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to be a qualified and effective candidate for the vacancy.
Holds or can obtain West VirginiaTeacher certification in pre-school special needs.
Ability to collaborate with others and work closely with the County's Pre-K program director and staff, parents/guardians, classroom aides, Pre-K team at the school, and other pertinent personnel in order to best meet the needs of students. Professional traits such as strong organization skills, flexibility, patience, and personal responsibility are important to be a successful. Effective verbal and written skills, and interpersonal skills are required.
