This position's primary objective is to maximize the adoptions and foster placements of dogs, cats and other animals in the Collin County Animal Shelter. This position will be responsible for several areas relating to animal placement.
Running the “in-house” county-run animal foster program, which includes determining qualifications, advertising, recruiting, and supervising a pool of qualified animal fosters.
Forming and maintaining working relationships with animal rescue organizations, other animal shelters and community organization to form a network of partners to help us achieve our placement goals.
Planning and advertising adoption events both independently and in conjunction with other events/organizations.
In addition to the animal placement tasks, the position will document, monitor and evaluate the outcomes of these activities, make recommendations relating to improvements or changes, and provide supporting information for grant writing to secure funds for foster/adoption programs. This position will be expected to actively engage visitors who are interested in an adoption and participate in that process as needed. Other duties as required.
This role requires three (3) to five (5) years of experience relating to municipal/county animal services, veterinary care, animal rescue/foster organization experience, marketing/outreach, or non-profit volunteer pool coordination. Valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is required.
Candidates must have either a level of knowledge normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree OR substitute two (2) years of experience for every one year of college education.

Grade level eligibility and salaries vary depending upon background, including experience and education, and duty location of the opportunity. You will be eligible for a promotion to the next higher grade level (without re-applying) once you successfully complete 52 weeks in each grade level. Promotions are at the discretion of the agency.

Qualifications:
You qualify for the GS-9 grade level in one of the following ways: experience, education, or a combination of both.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level that includes:
Detaining suspected violators of federal, state, or local laws and/or arresting violators using the proper law enforcement methods.
Enforcing the laws and regulations relating to importing, exporting, and/or international shipping to and from the United States.
Utilizing intelligence techniques and behavior analysis to identify potential threats and perform risk assessments for violations of laws and threats to national security.

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated ability and knowledge of the use of the equipment used in the performance of the duties of grounds maintenance.
Ability to work in a team environment and work with minimal supervision.
Possess at least a Class C Texas driver license and qualify for insurability with the District insurance carrier.
Aptitude to successfully complete assigned tasks.
Ability to work with and get along with other employees and campus personnel.
Adequate health to perform essential functions of the position.
Ability to lift and carry 50 or more pounds without assistance.
Ability to direct the work activities of a crew in the performance of the above-mentioned duties.

Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Apply shop standards in the assembly and repair of bikes and skis across the full product line.
Evaluate the mechanical condition of the product and estimate the cost of repairs.
Provide an educated assessment for a bicycle repair for the customer that includes an estimated completion date.
Meet or exceed shop production standards.
Complete paperwork accurately and fully (record parts used work performed detail of torque tolerance and standard procedures; complete pricing of job ticket) and process to next status or location.
Record and report any deficiencies not addressed by the repair work being done to the customer and or the appropriate leader.
Assist customer in the sale or repair process by sharing product and technical knowledge as appropriate.
Operate cash register as necessary.
Report or record replacement parts inventory and supply shortages to the General Manager. Maintain shop cleanliness including bench and common workspace.Install and adjust speed and gear mechanisms.
Assemble new bicycles.
Install, repair, and replace equipment or accessories, such as handlebars, stands, lights, and seats.
Align wheels.
Disassemble axles to repair, adjust, and replace defective parts, using hand tools.
Shape replacement parts, using bench grinders.
Repair holes in tire tubes, using scrapers and patches.
Weld broken or cracked frames together, using oxyacetylene torches and welding rods.
Paint bicycle frames, using spray guns or brushes.
Install and adjust brakes and brake pads.
Help customers select bicycles that fit their body sizes and intended bicycle uses.
Sell bicycles and accessories.
Install new tires and tubes.
Clean and lubricate bicycle parts.
Order bicycle parts.
Build wheels by cutting and threading new spokes.
Install vehicle parts or accessories.
Adjust vehicle components according to specifications.
Explain technical product or service information to customers.
Sell products or services.
Install vehicle parts or accessories.
Perform basic equipment maintenance.
Order materials, supplies, or equipment.
Assemble mechanical components or machine parts.

Requirements
Requirements include but are not limited to:
Minimum 2 years experience preferred working as a technician/ mechanic in a bike shop.
Previous bike assembly experience or equivalent preferred
Interest in working in a team environment committed to providing excellent sales and service experience while increasing sales through service
Strong attention to detail
Ability to maintain open and positive relations with employees and customers
Interest in developing own skills and knowledge
Availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings and weekends
