It was a meeting in September 1836 in the Ithaca Hotel at the corner of State and Aurora streets.
Tompkins County Bank (then known as Tompkins Trust Co.) took over the Bank of Ithaca in 1849.
Immediately after the Civil War, the bank’s stockholders authorized its formation as Tompkins County National Bank in June of 1865, effective by year’s end.
Since 1891, generations of families have trusted Tompkins Financial Advisors to guide them toward achieving their financial goals and dreams.
He was also elected a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in 1914 and was made acting governor of that bank through the end of World War I.
