“Since opening the first salon in 1963, we’ve had the belief that every client has their own unique style.
By the end of 1964 the salon was fully booked and the brothers realised that they were destined for bigger things.
The early 1970’s saw Toni & Guy put their individual stamp on current trends.
The business was ever growing with Bruno working as a session stylist and a further salon being opened in 1972 situated in Davies Street just off Berkley square in Mayfair, central London.
The first central London salon was established in 1973 and the opening of this base marked a significant turning point for the TONI&GUY brand.
By 1980 TONI&GUY where recognised worldwide for their education and a demand was created for an Academy.
Further salon and business expansion was seen during the mid-1980.
In 1985 Bruno moved to America to establish a base in Dallas, Texas with an aim of developing a stateside presence.
For the first time, the TONI&GUY artistic team, including young stylist Pat Stokes (later to be known as Mascolo after she married Anthony in 1986), began to conduct seminars and shows to packed audiences, touring throughout the world.
In 1990, they opened the very first TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy, a natural next step for a company focused on ongoing training and personalized styling for each client.
Soon providing to be an invaluable addition to the team, she became the youngest ever winner of ‘Newcomer of the Year’ at the British Hairdressing Awards in 1991.
In 1991 a salon and school was opened in Stuttgart, Germany.
TONI&GUY were first introduced to Australia in November 1995 opening the very first salon and academy in Darlinghurst, Sydney.
With an aim to create a solid business base for his children, Toni launched the essensuals hairdressing brand in 1997.
By the end of the decade, Sacha had added the title of ‘London Hairdresser of the Year’ to her achievements, when she won the title in 1999.
In 2000, Toni was recognised for his entrepreneurial skill when he won the title of ‘London Entrepreneur 2000’ in the Consumer Products and Services category of ‘London Entrepreneur of the Year’ Awards.
2001 TONI&GUY launches its first ever consumer retail product range – TONI&GUY Signature, sold exclusively in Boots and TONI&GUY salons in the UK. Today, the range is sold in over 50 markets across the world.
In 2002, Toni Mascolo also founded the TONI&GUY Charitable foundation, which is currently raising money for a TONI&GUY ward at King’s College Children’s Hospital.
2003 also saw Sacha’s husband James Tarbuck joined the company as Global Brand Director who created TONI&GUY Media department, as well as launching the award winning TONI&GUY Magazine and TONI&GUY.TV channel.
Working closely with her father, she led the product development and design of the label.m professional haircare range, which launched in 2005.
2006 saw Toni honoured by his native Italy when he received an Italian Knighthood, Cavalliere Ufficiale and had an awards ceremony here in the UK at the London home of the Italian Ambassador.
In 2007 Sacha re-launched the eponymous TONI&GUY product range – a 45 piece colour coded hair care system, which launched into Boots stores nationwide and is now available in 45 countries globally.
Then in 2009 she went onto win collection of the year at the AIPP image awards and the coveted UK’s most wanted ‘Hair Icon’ by Creative Head Magazine readers.
2010 also sees the exciting launch of essensuals London, a brand new salon concept that is due to launch its flagship salon in LA in spring of this year.
2010 saw another hairdressing first when Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck and husband James Tarbuck joined the British Fashion Council for the Vogue Fashion Fund.
In 2011 TONI&GUY became an Official sponsor of the British Fashion Awards, further cementing its place within the fashion industry.
2013 saw label.m receive the ultimate seal of fashion approval, as the range became the 'Official Haircare Product of London Fashion Week' - a landmark move for the British Fashion Council and a first for the hairdressing industry.
