1911

Tony Lama is the world’s most legendary western boot brand, instantly recognized as the boot of the American west since 1911.

After completing his service in 1911, he stayed in the border town of El Paso, where he met and married Esther Hernandez, a pianist and music teacher.

1912

Tony Lama started his company in 1912 as a small boot repair shop on East Overland Street in El Paso.

1933

By 1933 his factory was producing forty pairs of boots a day.

1946

In 1946, his son, Joseph “Bert” Lama, presented a custom pair of boots to United States President Harry S. Truman.

1948

In fact in 1948 he made of pair of custom-made boots for the President of the United States, Harry S. Truman.

1961

In 1961, nearly 50 years after the first store opened, the company moved into larger quarters and began making 750 pairs of boots a day.
