Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including daily logs, sample data, and equipment maintenance records.
Specific Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years, preferred 10+ years, of experience as a driller in environmental and geotechnical drilling
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Must be willing to work in various weather conditions.
Must be willing to work extended hours, including 75% overnight travel.
Must be able to work independently and in small teams.
Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities
What you'll be challenged to do:
TranSystems is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Driller to expand our drilling operations in our Ebensburg, PA based office, on a wide variety of geotechnical and/or environmental projects. The ideal candidate is a self-starting and motivated individual who can perform with minimal supervision, a team player, and one who takes pride in their work.
General Duties & Responsibilities (Work includes but is not limited to):
* Operation drill rig(s) and oversight of drilling operations for auger borings, standard penetration test (SPT) sampling, rock coring, monitoring well installations, infiltration testing and other types of drilling, as required.
* Collection of field data as required by specifications and/or job instructions.
* Training and supervision of drilling assistant on the drilling site.
* Meet production requirements and utilization goals.
* Communication with project managers, inspectors, clients, and supervisors., as required.
* Responsible for routine maintenance, repair and general condition of the drill rigs and other equipment.

This position reports to and is under the direction of foreman or superintendent. William A. Hazel, Inc., operates all over the *Northern Virginia Area. By applying to this position, you acknowledge and understand you may be required to commute to job sites.*
**Essential Functions**
Level One
1. Must have minimum 90 days experience as Laborer (Blasting Crew).
2. Drill bore holes using a mechanical drill.
3. Maintain a safe working environment. Must wear hard hat, work boots and safety glasses while drilling.
4. Be able to drill holes on requested pattern and to accurate depth.
5. Attatch diamond churn, allow for percussion bit to drill rod, and fasten rod in machine.
6. Start power unit. Move clutch and throttle to control rotation of feed of drill bit into ground.
7. Couple additional lengths of drill rod as bit advances.
8. Withdraw drill rod from hole after specified depth has been reached and extracts core from hollow barrel located behind drilling bit.
9. Record depths from which core samples are taken.
10. Lubricate machine and replaces parts such as worn winch cables
11. Perform maintenance check on drills and keep dust collector clean.
12. Help Blaster stem holes.
Level Two
1. Must have minimum 90 days experience as Level 1 Driller
2. Learn to read cut sheets, layout, plans, and station numbering systems..
3. Transfer grades using lock level.
4. Know rock types and diggability.
5. Know dimensions and patterns to drill for different pipe and structure sizes.
Level Three
1. Must have minimum 1 year experience as Level 2 Driller.
2. Transfer grades with lock level and transit level.
3. Solve job problems using plans, cut sheets and good judgement.
4. Be able to work with minimum supervision.
5. As directed by competent authority.

Responsible for essential maintenance tasks, including greasing, to ensure optimal functionality of drilling equipment.
Demonstrate strong communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration within the team and communicate maintenance requirements.
Utilize extensive knowledge of drill upkeep and preventive maintenance procedures to enhance equipment longevity and ensure equipment cleanliness.
Ability to fill out precise drill logs and maintain accurate as-builts for comprehensive project documentation.
Maintain regular communication and interaction with Superintendents to provide updates and address any concerns.
Ability to work in loud environments and maintain all required safety PPE.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
3-5 years of geotechnical experience
Valid Driver's License
Ability to hit daily production targets
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Ability to travel extensively as required - up to three weeks on duty at a time
Proficiency in welding

**Position Overview:**
Oversees a directional drill crew working on job site, making sure work is compliant with installation and safety standards. Oversees the field operations with a focus on safety, compliance, efficiency, cost management and innovation. **Qualifications:**
**Education Preferred:** High school diploma or 4-year post-secondary education, or equivalent experience.
**Experience Required:** Two years of experience as an equipment and directional drill operator, or equivalent on the job experience. Proficient knowledge of utility installation techniques and standards. Minimum 5 years' operating a directional drill (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch), valid driver's license with clean driving record, excellent communications, and interpersonal skills, minimum two (2) years utility construction experience, strong interpersonal, team-oriented skills.
