Responsibilities:
  • Work with industry-specific and high complex precision machines, including but not limited to conveyors, lathes, mills, grinders, saws, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, compressors etc.
  • Use precision leveling and alignment tools in order to measure angles, material thickness, and small distances with calipers, squares, micrometers, and other tools.
  • Fit bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors, and connect belts according to manufacturer’s blueprints and drawings.
  • Assist with the dismantling of machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  • Fabricate and install parts on equipment and machinery by measuring, cutting, and drilling.
  • Assist with the unloading, inspecting, moving, and setting of equipment into position using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Use rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls, and hand winches to move equipment / materials into place.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on conveyors, lathes, mills, grinders, saws, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, pumps.
  • Read and fabricate parts from blueprints and ISO drawings.
  • Align a pump and motor within 5 thousandths of an inch.
  • Operate mobile equipment fork trucks and man-lifts


Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED and 3+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience with lathes, mills, broaching, general shop equipment (drill presses, vertical/horizontal band saws, hydraulic presses), measuring and hand tools
  • Knowledge of Lathe, Mills, Cut Off Saw, and Drill Press equipment preferred; Machining, Hydraulics, and Pneumatics experience is a plus
  • Must be willing to work shift work and various shifts
  • Evaluation Required
    • Written Machine Tool Repair Skill Assessment (40 questions); 80% is passing
    • Practical Exam upon successful completion of the Written Skills Assessment

JOB SUMMARYProvides required service, repair and "return-to-operation" molds that are actively engaged in producing quality products.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Performing mold repair work on cavities and cores due to damage or wear.

+ Noting any changes to molds, inserts, parts, etc.

+ Documenting work and keep accurate records. Dissembling and assembling molds, analyzing and solving basic mold problems including flashing conditions, galling, venting, cooling problems, etc.

+ Assembling, repairing, inspecting, cleaning and polishing molds using skill and care while handling and polishing critical surfaces. Laying out, fabricating and assembling metalworking dies, molds, and machine tool fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models and engineering or shop specification.

+ Using a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Sets up and operates lathes, milling machines, electrical discharge machines, surface and cylindrical grinders.

+ Interpreting drawings, evaluating machining methods on assignments and occasionally instructing other toolmakers and apprentices in the operation and setup of tool room equipment.

+ Computing dimensions; determining machining and material or parts required. Perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Solving problems relating to unusual material, work-holding arrangements, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production processes.

Requirements Skills:

+ Working with tooling related mechanical drawings (accurate interpretation and application)

+ Basic understanding of function and repair of pneumatic and hydraulic systems

+ Operation of machine shop equipment/ metal fabrication.

+ TIG welding a plus.

+ Working knowledge of mechanical principles related to the trade to include technical terms

+ Trade specific math - (working knowledge of geometry and trigonometry a plus)

+ Basic rigging skills to manage assembled molds and mold plates.

+ Working knowledge of injection molding machines.

+ Effective communication and interpersonal skills across all plant levels, both verbal and in writing.

+ Microsoft Office required, Microsoft Project is a plus

Experience:

+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Plastic Injection Molding industry

+ Prior background in plastic injection mold maintenance, repair and troubleshooting

+ Proficient in: Mold maintenance, repair and troubleshooting to includeintegrated electrical and mechanical systems (hydraulic/ pneumatic/ heaters and thermocouples)
