The Tool Room is responsible for:

Toolmakers work to repair and maintain plastic injection mold tools, varying from single cavity low volume to multi-cavity high volume molds. This routinely includes disassembly and cleaning of complex molds, some of which can exceed thousands of pounds in weight and require lifting by an overhead crane to tables in the Toolroom, where intricate and often delicate or expensive components are removed for inspection, repair, and cleaning. Setups to the correct plastic product configuration and troubleshooting of molding visual defects or dimensional issues may be done on the bench or in the presses to determine next steps and make corrections as needed. Some fabrication or repair may be done on components using toolroom equipment including use of a lathe, mill, EDM machine, grinders, etc.

Day-to-day, you can find yourself working on:

* Inspect, build & maintain tooling & part fixtures using turning, milling & grinding operations
* Perform scheduled & emergency tooling repair, maintenance, cleaning & set-up of self-contained molds
* Recommend changes to mold designs to improve life of the tooling
* Assist in troubleshooting of tooling on production floor in the molding machines & on the bench
* Understanding of hot runner tooling function, maintenance & troubleshooting
* Support and participation in continuous improvement activities including maintaining a clean and organized workplace

Who you are:

* Degree for 2-year machine trades program
* 2-5 years experience in assembly and reassembly of molds with thorough knowledge & understanding of tooling, tool room practices, and fabricating techniques

About this Role

Tool Room Inspector is an important role on the Silgan Dispensing team and is a great opportunity for those looking for entry level positions. Our machines help produce thousands of our dispensing products each day. So, it's important to keep them running efficiently and continuously. The Tool Room Inspector ensures the quality of our incoming tools, keeps the Tool Room sufficiently stocked and ensures accurate record keeping. This allows the Tool Room department to be prepared in assisting in the production of our products. Here's a list of duties that our Tool Room Inspector performs on a typical day:

+ Measure, store and log in incoming tooling.

+ Examine incoming product for aesthetic and functional defects.

+ Compare product with component standards or engineering specifications to ensure conformity.

+ Reject defective materials and notify supplier or appropriate departments.

+ Purchase spare tooling per Engineering requests. (We will train the right candidate in SAP purchasing data base).

+ Follow-up on purchase orders; check on quoted lead times versus actual delivery times.

+ Data entry as required.

+ Other duties as assigned.

How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

+ The Tool Room Attendant is responsible for supporting maintenance, 591 Tooling Analyst and Central Tooling with their tooling needs.

+ Attendants ensure the tool room is clean and well organized.

+ Duties include but are not limited to; maintaining a tool crib on assigned shift independently, issuing and receiving tooling using the Tooling Management system, data accuracy, compliance processes with PMET, revision-controlled tooling, tool/kit validation upon issuing and receiving, ordering stock, support line, base, OSR, supporting CT initiated shipping including Webvision, in-sourcing with tooling needs, minor tool repair, cutting material and proper binning.

+ Should be able to comprehend and apply information contained in technical manuals, procedural manuals and blueprints.

+ Attendant is responsible for safe operation of mechanical and manual material handling equipment and of company vehicle(s).

+ The successful candidate will be responsible for consistently practicing safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

+ Tool Room Attendants along with their leadership will assist and support the Tool Analysts and Central Tooling.

The minimum starting hourly rate for this position is $18.64 with a potential maximum hourly rate of $19.23. The ability to reach the maximum hourly rate is dependent upon several other offered premiums (Examples would include but not limited to - Airframe and Powerplant license , Shift differential, Station location differential, Line Maintenance differential, Skill differential).

+ Candidates must have some mechanical skill & knowledge, be organized.

+ The ability to lift 80 lbs. and possess a valid driver's license is required.

+ Candidates must be able to adjust to a work environment that is very fast paced.
