At TopBuild, you will be part of a diverse and inclusive team that reflects our values of integrity and innovation by delivering solutions that make a difference in the communities we serve. Here, you are part of a company that rewards your contributions and encourages you to take ownership of your career. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Manager Logistics is responsible for driving high-quality transportation performance across TopBuild's national network. This role oversees end-to-end execution standards, manages the strategic relationship with CH Robinson as both freight broker and Managed Solutions provider, and ensures effective performance of the TMS platform (Navisphere). This role also selects and manages freight carriers and brokers, which includes contract negotiations, freight rate negotiation, performance metrics, claims and more as needed. The Senior Manager Logistics leads continuous improvement initiatives for both inbound and outbound freight, establishing minimum operating requirements that balance carrier needs, customer expectations, and internal operational capabilities. While this role does not directly manage branch or manufacturing operations, it influences operational leaders and teams through standards, analytics, best practices, and cross-functional collaboration to drive improved behaviors in safety, delivery reliability, service quality, and cost performance. This position serves as a critical escalation point, ensuring transportation processes are executed accurately, system behaviors align with business requirements, and upstream issues are corrected to prevent repeated failures or downstream issues for carriers and customers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Transportation Network Optimization & Continuous Improvement Lead network-wide continuous improvement initiatives that enhance performance for inbound, outbound, and intercompany shipments. Analyze transportation data to identify inefficiencies, recurring exceptions, carrier constraints, and opportunities for optimization in routing, scheduling, and capacity usage. Establish and enforce minimum operating requirements to support balanced, cost-effective solutions that meet carrier, customer, and operation's needs. Influence branches, manufacturing sites, and partners to adopt improved transportation practices and standards. Develop and recommend strategies that reduce cost while enhancing service reliability, customer experience, and freight visibility. 2. CH Robinson Oversight - Broker & Managed Solutions Provider Serve as the primary relationship manager for CH Robinson, overseeing brokerage operations, capacity sourcing, rate execution, and service recovery. Manage CH Robinson's performance as Managed Solutions provider, including TMS (Navisphere) configuration, data integrity, escalations, and issue resolution. Partner with CH Robinson to improve system functionality, reduce manual processes, and enhance shipment accuracy. Conduct business reviews, performance audits, and root-cause analyses to ensure CH Robinson meets service expectations and contractual requirements. 3. Transportation Operations Support & Escalation Management Oversee end-to-end transportation execution, including tender accuracy, appointment scheduling, customer contact verification, and carrier communication standards. Serve as a key escalation point for branches, customers, and carriers regarding transportation exceptions. Ensure service failures, late deliveries, equipment issues, and accessorial disputes are resolved promptly and accurately. Maintain high levels of communication between operations, carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth load execution. 4. Process Improvement & Quality Assurance Identify upstream process gaps-such as incorrect POs, inaccurate delivery information, appointment errors, or missed reminders-and drive cross-functional corrective actions. Influence behaviors in sales, branch operations, and vendor teams to ensure adherence to transportation requirements. Standardize transportation processes through SOPs, lead-time guidance, tendering workflows, carrier requirements, and escalation procedures. Work with CH Robinson and internal IT teams on system configuration issues and integration improvements. Promote consistent, accurate use of Oracle and Navisphere to maintain data integrity and reduce operational friction. 5. Carrier & Vendor Management Reinforce minimum carrier expectations around on-time pickup, on-time delivery, communication, documentation accuracy, and safe loading practices. Partner with CH Robinson and carriers to address recurring service failures and drive corrective action. Support procurement, rate negotiations, and annual bids by providing network insights and performance data. Participate/lead carrier scorecarding and quarterly business reviews. Establish and coordinate all logistics agreements or contracts for freight and transportation services with external transportation providers. 6. Financial Controls & Cost Management Lead monthly transportation accrual reviews, ensuring cost accuracy and identifying discrepancies. Reduce unnecessary accessorial charges through upstream process improvement and stronger compliance. Investigate cost anomalies, carrier billing issues, and invoicing errors. Provide analysis and reporting to leadership regarding transportation spend, forecast variances, and cost-saving opportunities. 7. Cross-Functional Leadership & Communication Influence branches, manufacturing facilities, and vendor partners to align with transportation requirements and performance goals. Translate transportation issues into clear recommendations and action plans for internal teams. Facilitate communication between Sales, Branches, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and CH Robinson to ensure alignment. Build relationships across the organization to strengthen transportation discipline and improve service quality. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong understanding of transportation operations, network design, and carrier management. Deep experience with TMS platforms, ideally Navisphere, and ERP systems such as Oracle. Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority. Strong analytical skills with ability to leverage data to drive decisions and improvements. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills. Ability to manage escalations, conduct root-cause analysis, implement solutions or provide operational guidance that prevents repeat logistics challenges. Experience creating SOPs, standards, and operational requirements. Strong financial acumen related to freight cost drivers, accessorials, and budget controls. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred. 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain.
