Duties and Responsibilities
* Set up equipment and laboratory procedures; Check and refill fluids, heat ovens, etc.
* Obtain materials/supplies required for work tasks.
* Maintain work area(s) in a clean and organized condition.
* Calibrate and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, including documentation.
* Perform sample/test preparations including locating, labeling and verifying test materials, dissolution and filtering, and instrument set-ups.
* Perform laboratory tests, following established documented procedures.
* Enter data into computer program; review output ensuring accuracy; verify and document test results, noting abnormal data and send information to supervisor for review.
* Update test log ensuring accuracy and proper tracking of samples.
* Perform job tasks according to schedules, using established safe methods and processes.
* Work with others to achieve an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.
* Assist in the training of other Laboratory Associates.
* Attend and actively participate in meetings.
* Perform other related laboratory duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications
* High school degree or GED required.
* Two plus years' experience in a laboratory or similar environment; or two plus years' experience working in a carbon composite manufacturing environment; or an Associate of Arts degree in a lab science or closely related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
* Personal computer experience in Microsoft applications such as Excel and Word required.
* This position involves working with technologies and information which are subject to U.S. export control regulations. Under these regulations, Toray CMA must review certain candidate information including citizenship, basis of United States work authorization and country of origin. This information would be used for export control screening purposes only.

What you will do

Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age

Must have at least a bachelor's degree by the start of this development program

Preferred Qualifications:
Have at least one (1) year experience working in a retail, sales, or customer service position

This is a project-based internship that will focus on materials characterization and process improvement. Duties will include project development and execution, data collection analysis, and material handling.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Jointly responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and implementing safe operating procedures to ensure an accident-free record.
* Participate in the activities of the Technical R&D group by performing tests, production experiments, and collecting data involved in better understanding material-process-property relationships.
* Support other Engineers and learn various processing, testing, and data analysis techniques.
* Organize test samples and supplies in preparation for tests, and then perform tests in accordance with industry specifications.
* Work closely with Production, Quality, and Research departments to generate and collect data by performing various tests and tasks, then interpreting and explaining the results to management as required.
* Produce high quality informal reports on a weekly basis, including a formal mid-term and final summary report
Skills and Specifications
* Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Lab experience, hands-on experience with composites, and experience with CAD/FEA software is a plus.
Education and Qualifications
* Candidates should be working towards a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or chemistry discipline, ideally with an emphasis in polymers and/or composites.
* A minimum of 2 years of college education is required.
