TotalCare Walk-In Clinic is looking for a full-time PhysicianAssistant for our Colton clinic. We are a multi-specialty medical group that offers services in internal medicine, family medicine, cardiology, urgent care, and medical aesthetics. We have a highly collaborative team of 25 providers spread across 8 locations.
We offer a supportive environment for new grad providers to provide care to underserved communities around Southern California. Build a strong foundation in primary care/urgent care while gaining hands-on experience with common procedures. Our Medical Director hosts weekly provider meetings to provide feedback, discuss specific cases, and share the latest in clinical research findings. Our team of 6 MDs, each with 30+ years of experience, rotate across all of our offices, and provide clinical support in-person or via phone during all shifts.

Job Summary
The Michigan Medicine Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Diabetes is seeking a positive, service orientated individual to join our team. Our team is the HIIP (Hospital Intensive Insulin Program) within the University Hospital. We care for patients with hyperglycemia on the cardiothoracic intensive care units and several other services and floors and manage their blood glucose until discharge, follow those patients by virtual visit several weeks after their discharge in our Hyperglycemia continuity clinic (CVC Metab Endo & Diab), answer pages initiated by patients after discharge if patients have concerns or questions regarding their glucose levels and insulin dosages, and conduct phone calls shortly after discharge for some patients.

Responsibilities*
Duties will include:
Screening ICU patients,
Interviewing patients to obtain and perform a detailed initial patient history and physical,
Follow and interpret lab data and recommend tests and therapy for the management of hyperglycemia and appropriately record the findings. Pertinent data needs to be presented to the on-service physicians.
Collect and assist in the interpretation of reports from diagnostic and laboratory tests, radiographic procedures and clinical studies. Compile and record detailed narrative case evaluations and present pertinent data to the On-service physicians. Order tests and recommend to the physician the prescription of medications.
Administer follow-up care to patients and assist in the referral to various internal and external facilities.
Additionally, we educate patients and healthcare professionals on several aspects of diabetes care including diet, lifestyle, oral medications, insulin and several diabetes technologies including meters, continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGM), insulin delivery devices and pumps.
Involvement in outcomes research namely data collection and entry will also be required. Opportunity is available for analysis of outcomes so experience with statistics and data management are a plus.
If desired, the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Diabetes will support acquiring a Certified Diabetes Educator Degree, a very sought after credential in today's health care environment.
Required Qualifications*
NP:
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
Current specialty certification to practice as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
Graduate of an accredited NP program

Responsibilities*
Under a collaborative physician agreement, the PA will be expected to perform the following responsibilities:
Patient contact (80%)
Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultations to patients age 10 + with a wide variety of acute and chronic health concerns that present in an ambulatory setting. The scope of care includes comprehensive primary care including all common mental health conditions, PREP/PEP, gender affirming care, and non-operative gynecological care to both students and non-students. Provide weekend coverage on a rotating basis. Maintain compliance with billing and coding practices. Participate in the management of on-site medical emergency procedures. Perform common minor office procedures, including I&D, laceration, and LARC.
Administrative/non-patient contact (20%)
Provide indirect patient care via phone calls, patient portal, and other modes of communication.
Attend and actively participate in on-site Continuing Medical Education activities and other outside CME activities relevant to specific area of training.
Participate in the administrative functioning of UHS through various committees, work-groups or special projects as directed by the Medical Director or designee.
Complete regular peer review and quality improvement activities as coordinated through the Primary Care clinics and the Quality Improvement Committee.

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides high-quality, coordinated, comprehensive, team-based, and patient-centered care for patients of The Queen?s Health System?s (QHS) hospitals and clinics, and other hospitals and clinics, as applicable, in the area of Orthopedic Surgery ? Spine
Responsible for diagnosing and prescribing a course of treatment, surgery, and therapy for patients with disorders, malformations, diseases and/or injuries to the musculoskeletal system, with a focus and/or interest in orthopedic spine conditions.
Engages engage in academic medical/clinical education, training, supervision, evaluation, and research.
Works cooperatively within collaborative practice models.

SUMMARY:
The part-time principal faculty member (rank commensurate with experience) within the PhysicianAssistant (PA) Program is primarily responsible for course instruction and/or course coordination in the didactic and/or clinical phase of the program. It is expected that a principal faculty member will be effective in the areas of course design, course delivery, and evaluation. The principal faculty member is instrumental in assisting the program to ensure that students consistently meet the program?s Student Learning Outcomes to achieve competencies required for PA practice. The principal faculty member is guided by the Directors of Didactic/Clinical Education and the Program Director in assisting the program with curriculum assessment and meeting the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for PhysicianAssistant (ARC-PA) Accreditation Standards.
The part-time faculty member works 20 hours a week with a teaching workload of 8-10 credits annually as defined in the Faculty Supplement. The incumbent must assure that the South University philosophy is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position, which includes quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and maintenance of an environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking, and expansion. This position is eligible for full-time benefits.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS:
1. Provides teaching and instruction as dictated by the needs of the PA Program and assigned by the supervisor or designee:
Coordination of instruction annually.
Lecturing in areas of clinical and/or professional expertise.
Providing academic advising as a small group facilitator and student advisor.
2. Assists the Director of Didactic Education in the administrative coordination of the didactic phase of the program.
3. Assists the Director of Clinical Education in the administrative coordination of the clinical phase of the program.
4. Assists with curriculum development, which includes the design and implementation of the curriculum.
5. Assists with ongoing curriculum evaluation and improvement.
6. Performs student evaluations of objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), lab practicals, as well as clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and technical skills sessions during the didactic and clinical phases of the program.
7. Evaluates student performance of submitted assignments, including written clinical documentation, evidence-based medicine research, and health literacy projects.
8. Creates examinations for courses and maps exam questions to ARC-PA accreditation standards and the NCCPA Content Blueprint.
9. Provides input to assist with accreditation activities, as well as ongoing program evaluation and mission statement review.
10. Participates in the program's admissions process to include student recruitment, student evaluation (through application review and candidate interviews), and student selection meetings.
11. Engages in service, community and campus relations, and scholarly activities appropriate to the role of a Principal Faculty (Part-time) member.
12. Participates in faculty development opportunities each year as required in the areas of teaching and academic administration.
13. Assists with clinical site development and clinical site monitoring.
14. Provides remedial instruction as needed.
15. Assists with other responsibilities as determined by the Directors of Didactic/Clinical Education, Program Director, and/or the Campus Dean of Academic Affairs.
16. Performs duties as assigned and outlined in the Faculty and in accordance with the provisions of Faculty Supplement to the South University Employee Handbook.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Terminal degree as a PhysicianAssistant.
Current or emeritus NCCPA Certification.
PAs with active certification must be eligible for state licensure or hold an active, valid, and unencumbered state license in the state where they are assigned.
1-2 years clinical experience highly preferred.
Experience in PA/medical classroom teaching preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong interpersonal skills with student and staff populations.
Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.
Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, ExamSoft, and WebAdMIT.
Ability to interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
Ability to read, understand, interpret, and implement accreditation criteria and state agency regulations.
Ability to resolve inquiries and complaints from employees, students, regulatory agencies, or members of the academic or business community.
Ability to listen to customers (e.g. staff, students, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.

Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for accurate medical documentation.
Familiarity with specialties such as gastroenterology, pediatrics, geriatrics, infectious disease care, behavioral health, and pain management.
Ability to perform procedures like IV insertion, phlebotomy, spinal taps, and airway management.
Experience with telehealth services and providing remote patient care.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology knowledge, and infection control practices.
Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams.
