GENERAL DUTIES
Performs accurate treatment plans and dosimetry calculations:
- Develops treatment plans in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription and instructions.
- Uses computer planning for treatment calculations for external beam treatment and brachytherapy planning under the direction of the Physicist.
Accurately check patients treatment records regularly:
- Verifies the accuracy of all calculations, mathematical additions and computer plans in patient chart on a regular basis.
Coordinates treatment simulations and tumor localizations, including CT for radiation therapy treatment planning:
- Performs the planning and the fabrication of compensating filters, custom shields, wedges and other beam modifications needed for radiation treatments.
Assumes responsibility for professional development and supports department goal attainment:
- Meets requirements for mandatory hospital in-services and attends department meetings.
- Meets requirements for Continuing Medical Education.
- Trains/educates radiation therapy students on dosimetry rotation.
Assists in employing appropriate and correct technique in the administering of radiation therapy treatments and simulations:
- Assists other therapists on treatment machines and in the simulation room as needed.

Actively participates on clinical committees including pharmacy and therapeutics committee and other appointed committees as needed. Acts as a liaison to other healthcare practitioners. A full-time professional position responsible for conducting highly specialized forensic interviews of children reported to be victims of abuse and/or neglect and coordinating the systems related to forensic interviewing and medical clinical needs.
