As a Hospice Clinical Social Worker, you will:
Assist the core members of the pre-hospice/hospice team in understanding significant social, spiritual, and emotional factors related to the patient's health, to establish a plan of care which fosters the personal worth, spiritual well-being, and dignity of each patient.
Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team and in the development and review of the plan of care for all patients.
Assess the social, spiritual, and emotional needs/factors in order to estimate the patient's and involved caregiver's capacity and potential to cope with the problems of daily living and with the terminal diagnosis and illness.
Prepare the patient to cope with the changes and the chosen family to support the patient including education on advance directives/advanced care planning
Utilize all available resources, such as chosen family, hospice, and community agencies, to assist the patient and chosen family to live better within the limitations of the illness
Support the bereavement program
Provide discharge planning related to change of level-of-care or community placement/location-of-care
Required Certifications and Licensures:
Licensed to practice as a clinical social worker in the state of agency operation if required
Must be a licensed driver who can travel to all business locations

Overview:
The Surgical First Assist provides direct support to the surgeon during surgical procedures. This role involves assisting in surgery, performing specific tasks under the surgeon's direction, and ensuring that the surgical environment is safe, sterile, and well-prepared. The Surgical First Assist is integral to the successful outcome of surgical procedures and is expected to work efficiently and effectively within a high-pressure environment.
Responsibilities:
Preoperative Duties:
Review patient medical history, surgical plans, and discuss with the surgical team.
Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterilized and available.
Assist in positioning the patient, draping, and ensuring the surgical site is prepared.
Intraoperative Duties:
Provide hands-on assistance during surgery, such as tissue retraction, suctioning, suturing, hemostasis, and other tasks as directed by the surgeon.
Maintain a clear and sterile surgical field, anticipating the surgeon's needs.
Handle instruments, supplies, and implants during the procedure.
Assist with wound closure, applying dressings, and performing other tasks necessary for the completion of the surgery.
Monitor patient vitals and report any changes to the surgeon and anesthesiologist.
Postoperative Duties:
Assist with the transfer of the patient from the operating room to the recovery area.
Ensure all instruments and equipment are accounted for and properly sterilized.
Participate in postoperative debriefings, ensuring any issues are addressed.
Document the surgical procedure, including patient information, and any observations or complications.
Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and technologies.
Strong understanding of surgical anatomy and physiology.
Proficient in the use of surgical instruments and equipment.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain composure and focus during high-stress situations.
Completion of an accredited Surgical First Assist Program that includes a didactic and at least 140 documented procedures
3-5 years as a Certified Surgical Technologist preferred
Credentials:
NBSTSA Certification (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
CSFA Certification (Certified Surgical First Assistant)
BLS - Basic Life Saving Certification
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate or bachelor's degree in related field (Nursing, Surg Tech) preferred
