GENERAL DUTIES
Responds to dispatch information and drives specially equipped emergency vehicles to specified locations within applicable norms.
Stabilizes ill or injured persons by extricating ill or injured person, rendering first aid and relaying ill or injured person status to medical personnel.
Utilizes medical equipment and procedures including a defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care.
Recognizes any deviations or changes in the patient's health due to the patient's condition and from the treatment provided.
Maintains vehicle/supplies, communications equipment and medical equipment in accordance with applicable standards.
Keeps vehicles and equipment clean, organized, stocked and sanitized before each trip. Uses proper PPE when sanitizing or cleaning spills.
Utilizes and operates appropriate communications equipment, medical equipment, cleaning equipment, office equipment and tools.
Documents activities with regard to patient care and billing completely to ensure appropriate information is available regarding each call.
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
1 year of experience as a EMT Basic preferred.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED required.

Essential Functions:

Your Everyday
1. Perform assigned priority technical procedures and maintain a safe environment for patients.
2. Provide care services like basic life support (CPR), Adl's, restorative care, calculates intake and output, lifting, ambulating, transferring, positioning, weights, equipment use, vital signs, phlebotomy, dressing changes, obtaining Ekg's, etc.
3. Prepare patient room, chart in the electronic medical record, clean unit equipment, orders inventory medical/office supplies and perform other tasks as needed
4. Prioritize assigned tasks and patient care activities based on acuity of the need, resource availability, customer/patient preference/request and other departmental needs.
5. Report abnormal patient findings and situations to RN or other licensed healthcare providers and takes actions to correct unsafe conditions.
6. Give rationale for actions or decisions based on logic, successful experience, intuition and/or established policies/procedures.
7. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to identify actions to improve patient care:
8. Seek supervision or assistance when unable to perform effectively or safely and independently.
9. Initiate and/or maintain job specific interventions to assure continuity of safe and effective care for patients.
10. Delegate tasks to other team members to accomplish direct patient care or support activities.
11. Question appropriateness of a task that has been delegated by the RN/Licensed healthcare provider for clarification of concerns.
The Must-Haves
Minimum:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent, appropriate work experience.
2. 1 year of Clinical Care experience; CNA or PCT experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
3. Certified Medical Assistant (MA) - American Association of Medical Assistants or
4. Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - Louisiana State Department of Health
5. Certified Patient Care or Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) - National Health Careers Association or
6. Certified Patient Care Technician (PCT) - National Health Careers Association
7. American Heart Association BLS certification.
8. Non-Violent Crisis Prevention (CPI, NCI-CPI) - Crisis Prevention Institute
