GENERAL DUTIES Responds to dispatch information and drives specially equipped emergency vehicles to specified locations within applicable norms. Stabilizes ill or injured persons by extricating ill or injured person, rendering first aid and relaying ill or injured person status to medical personnel. Utilizes medical equipment and procedures including a defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care. Recognizes any deviations or changes in the patient's health due to the patient's condition and from the treatment provided. Maintains vehicle/supplies, communications equipment and medical equipment in accordance with applicable standards. Keeps vehicles and equipment clean, organized, stocked and sanitized before each trip. Uses proper PPE when sanitizing or cleaning spills. Utilizes and operates appropriate communications equipment, medical equipment, cleaning equipment, office equipment and tools. Documents activities with regard to patient care and billing completely to ensure appropriate information is available regarding each call. EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS 1 year of experience as a EMT Basic preferred. EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma/GED required. Your Everyday Perform sleep studies including procedures like Electroencephalograms, Electrooculogram, Electromyogram, Respiratory effort, Airflow, Oximetry, End Tidal, PAP Device flow, etc. Provide a clear and precise explanation of the procedure to the patient and/or responsible person present. Recognize documents and eliminate artifacts and take proper measures to monitor suspected artifacts. Obtain at least 10 CEUs directly related to sleep yearly. Stay abreast of new equipment and software implemented by the department and/or hospital. Maintain and clean equipment immediately after use and ensures equipment is in proper working order. Apply troubleshooting methods, repairs and/or replaces instrument parts as needed with immediate notification to the manager. Communicate with technical support during troubleshooting of equipment. Demonstrate appropriate use of universal precautions when delivering patient care and perform appropriate isolation techniques for patients as needed. Lift, move or transfer patients utilizing proper body mechanics to prevent self-injury or injury to others. The Must-Haves Minimum: Graduate of CAAHEP Polysomnography Program or a minimum of 6 months of experience in sleep medicine or respiratory procedures. GENERAL DUTIES Performs a primary and secondary survey on every patient to ensure that all illnesses or injuries are found and treated rapidly . Ensures that all the proper equipment is brought to the patient to begin immediate medical care as required. Ensures that the patient maintains a patent airway and uses several different airway devices up to the ET tube based on the situation. Controls all major bleeding and uses acceptable techniques when applying direct pressure, elevation or pressure points to the use of a tourniquet. Transports patients safely and to the facility of choice on all calls and recognizes the need to transport critical patient to the closest hospital. Contacts medical control and relays patient reports over the radio to the physician in-charge and follows direct order to continue care while in transport to the hospital. Documents in descriptive legible form on the PCR the patient's condition, noting initial impression, medical history and any treatment rendered noting pertinent negatives/positives. Keeps dispatch informed of departures, arrivals and any other related important information via the radio at all times.
