Your Everyday
Perform sleep studies including procedures like Electroencephalograms, Electrooculogram, Electromyogram, Respiratory effort, Airflow, Oximetry, End Tidal, PAP Device flow, etc.
Provide a clear and precise explanation of the procedure to the patient and/or responsible person present.
Recognize documents and eliminate artifacts and take proper measures to monitor suspected artifacts.
Obtain at least 10 CEUs directly related to sleep yearly.
Stay abreast of new equipment and software implemented by the department and/or hospital.
Maintain and clean equipment immediately after use and ensures equipment is in proper working order.
Apply troubleshooting methods, repairs and/or replaces instrument parts as needed with immediate notification to the manager.
Communicate with technical support during troubleshooting of equipment.
Demonstrate appropriate use of universal precautions when delivering patient care and perform appropriate isolation techniques for patients as needed.
Lift, move or transfer patients utilizing proper body mechanics to prevent self-injury or injury to others.

Minimum:
Graduate of CAAHEP Polysomnography Program or a minimum of 6 months of experience in sleep medicine or respiratory procedures.

3. Prepare patient room, chart in the electronic medical record, clean unit equipment, orders inventory medical/office supplies and perform other tasks as needed
4. Prioritize assigned tasks and patient care activities based on acuity of the need, resource availability, customer/patient preference/request and other departmental needs.
5. Report abnormal patient findings and situations to RN or other licensed healthcare providers and takes actions to correct unsafe conditions.
6. Give rationale for actions or decisions based on logic, successful experience, intuition and/or established policies/procedures.
7. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to identify actions to improve patient care:
8. Seek supervision or assistance when unable to perform effectively or safely and independently.

Facilitates and maintains a safe environment for patients and others:
* Performs the priority technical procedures required by the area/department/assignment safely, effectively, efficiently, and legally.

* Reports abnormal patient findings and situations to RN or other licensed healthcare provider and takes actions to correct unsafe conditions.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to identify actions to improve patient care:

Your job is more than a job. 12 hour Night shift from 6:30p-7a The EKG Technician is responsible for performing all 12 lead electrocardiograms and/or rhythm strip on patients across the hospital. Responsible for obtaining two high quality traces on each patient for better clarity. Recognizes and reports changes from previous EKG tracings as well as any life-threatening arrhythmias. Performs clerical functions necessary for maintenance of the EKG record according to the established policies of the department and LCMC Health.
GENERAL DUTIES
Performs electrocardiograms:
Performs routine EKGs according to department protocols.
Responds to Code Blue through the hospital for emergent EKGs.
Preparation of Patient Charts/Orders for Physician Review:

Ensures that supplies are ordered in a timely fashion to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
