The Radiologic Technologist provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions: Demonstrates skills and knowledge in use of all x-ray equipment and performance of all x-ray protocols and procedures. Demonstrates technical proficiency in producing high quality exams within the appropriate length of time for procedure.
Day to Day
GENERAL DUTIES
* Demonstrates a satisfactory working knowledge of PACS and if needed reviews scans with the Radiologists as to important anatomic detail and areas of abnormalities. Confirms patient identity, body part, and body side for every patient prior to the procedure.
* Administers sound patient care practices according to department and hospital policies, to ensure the safety of the patient:
* Communicates effectively with patient to obtain clinical history/informed consent from patient or patient's chart to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination.
* Explains procedure to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation.
* Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome.
* Responds and follows up on critical test findings.
* Acquires and evaluates patient lab values to make sure they are within normal limits (BUN, CR, pregnancy, glucose) when applicable.
* Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition, to ensure the safety of the patients and employees:
* Checks and inspects the suite, equipment and accessories daily for physical and mechanical hazards.
* Troubleshoots malfunctions, immediately reports dangerous conditions to the appropriate person. Maintains work area in a clean, orderly fashion.
* Checks stock supply levels, maintains supplies at par level and displays an effort in supply maintenance and utilization.
* Cleans and disinfects equipment maintains supply of linen in the room.
* Maintains quality control checks in accordance with policy requirements:
* Participates in department QC and PI programs, follows up on all deficiencies.
* Maintains proper sterile technique for procedures, Practices aseptic techniques and always washes hands before and after each patient contact.
* Strictly adheres to the hospital policy on body substance isolation.
* Always wears film badge while on duty, follows departmental policy for badge results
* Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations:
* Consistently, accurately and legibly records the required information on the requisition.
* Performs other routine clerical duties as assigned. Inputs and verifies all data in PACS/RADIANT.

Current and valid license issued by the appropriate State licensing agency for the state in which the individual is practicing as a radiological technologist as well as a current Louisiana State license as a Laboratory Assistant.
Must be capable of dealing effectively and ethically with a variety of patients, family members, physicians and personnel under a variety of stressful situations.
Must have a good working knowledge of anatomy, understand the principles of physics and electricity and methods of exposure to obtain clearly defined films.

GENERAL DUTIES
Demonstrates a satisfactory working knowledge of PACS and if needed reviews scans with the Radiologists as to important anatomic detail and areas of abnormalities. Confirms patient identity, body part, and body side for every patient prior to the procedure.
Administers sound patient care practices according to department and hospital policies, to ensure the safety of the patient:
- Communicates effectively with patient to obtain clinical history/informed consent from patient or patient's chart to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination.
- Explains procedure to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation.
- Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome.
- Responds and follows up on critical test findings.
- Acquires and evaluates patient lab values to make sure they are within normal limits (BUN, CR, pregnancy, glucose) when applicable.
Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition, to ensure the safety of the patients and employees:
- Checks and inspects the suite, equipment and accessories daily for physical and mechanical hazards.
- Troubleshoots malfunctions, immediately reports dangerous conditions to the appropriate person. Maintains work area in a clean, orderly fashion.
- Checks stock supply levels, maintains supplies at par level and displays an effort in supply maintenance and utilization.
- Cleans and disinfects equipment maintains supply of linen in the room.
Maintains quality control checks in accordance with policy requirements:

Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions:

* Assists in the diagnosis of disease by consulting with appropriate practitioner.

GENERAL DUTIES
Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions:
Demonstrates skills and knowledge in use of all CT/X-ray and peripheral equipment and performance of all CT/X-ray protocols and procedures. Demonstrates technical proficiency in producing high quality scans demonstrating the requested anatomical part within the appropriate length of time for the procedure type. Demonstrates a satisfactory working knowledge of PACS. Reviews scans with the Radiologist as to important anatomical detail and areas of abnormalities. Provides and performs training in accordance to the hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local regulations. Assess and evaluate the trainee and provide feedback to the Radiology Manager.
Administers sound patient care practices according to department and hospital policies and procedures, to ensure the safety of the patient:
Communicates effectively with patient to obtain clinical history/informed consent from patient or patient's chart to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination. Explains procedure to patients and patient's family members.
Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition, to ensure the safety of the patients and employees:
Checks and inspects the suite, equipment and accessories daily for physical or mechanical hazards. Troubleshoots malfunctions, immediately reports dangerous conditions to the appropriate person. Maintains work area in a clean orderly fashion. Checks stock supply levels, maintains supplies at par level and displays an effort in supply maintenance and utilization. Cleans and disinfects equipment. Maintains supply of linen in the room.
Maintains quality control checks in accordance with policy requirements:
Participates in department QC and PI programs, follows up on all deficiencies. Maintains proper sterile technique for procedures, practices aseptic techniques and always washes hands before and after each patient contact. * Ensures all films are properly identified in accordance with the department policy without error producing no complaints.
* Status as "IN PROCESS" exams performed prior to or within (5) minutes of ordering exam.
* Provides adequate information on the exam request without error.
* Documents in a timely fashion all pertinent information relative to the patient's care and charges accordingly.

Radiologic Technologist - Weekend Only
X-ray technician job at LCMC Health
Your job is more than a job You knew from your first day as a rad tech that you had a rare ability to navigate in the "tech" meets "touch" world of patient care. As a Lead Xray Technologist, you use independent judgment and critical thinking to successfully complete diagnostic imaging procedures. Overseeing and scheduling radiology technologists and ancillary personnel, you ensure smooth patient flow, staffing, equipment maintenance, and JCAHO compliance.
And while you demonstrate your keen understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology and your ability to utilize x-ray and fluoroscopy equipment, you combine the science of imaging and the art of caring. That's what we love about you.

Your Everyday
Oversee and demonstrate high technical proficiency, skills and knowledge in use of all x-ray equipment and performance of all x-ray protocols and procedures.
Produce high quality scans of the requested anatomical part within the appropriate length of time for the procedure type.
Demonstrate a satisfactory working knowledge of PACS/RIS.
Review scans with the Radiologist and discuss anatomical detail and areas of abnormalities.
Accomplish all positions that are related to each procedure, apply immobilization devices for patient comfort, and select proper technique.
Perform calibration test to satisfy density factors and to meet correct specifications prior to utilization.
Perform proper warming up procedures in a manner that will not result in damage to equipment.
Understand and apply radiation protection procedures daily to eliminate excessive radiation to the patient and other individuals in the room using borders on all images and collimation devices to eliminate excessive radiation.
Assist in delivery of care by the physician, arming the syringe, injecting contrast media without error, and identifying malfunctions and corrective action.
Recognize life threatening situations and act accordingly to assist members of the health care team.
Transport patients as necessary and transfer patients to the table.
Assist and evaluate students and support personnel in their activities to ensure proper care is provided without deficiencies in the film quality or complaints.
Seek assistance for complex or non-routine learning needs from an appropriate authority.
Document procedures in the case event log ensuring appropriate chronology of events and a complete record of all supplies utilized.
Ensure films are properly identified in accordance with the department policy and documented in a timely fashion with pertinent information relative to the patient's care and charges.
Inspect, maintain, and clean all equipment and ensure equipment is properly secured so as not to produce loss or damage while not in use.
Provide daily assignments of technologists, monthly call schedule, and instruction and training of new staff.
Ensure that the director is informed of any situation that may produce staff, patient, or physician complaints.
Document job injuries are documented.
Work closely with the department's director to formulate protocols and charges on any new procedure.
This position is for a "WEEKEND" Lead Radiologic Technologist.
Full-time at 32 hours per week.
Some hours may be negotiable:
Sun. 5a-3:30p
Tues. 1 wk/Th next week 7a-7:30p

Minimum:
Licensed Radiology Technician through the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners.
