JOB SUMMARY:
Catholic Charities is seeking a hands-on, compassionate, trauma-informed, and detail-oriented professional who takes pride in creating safe, dignified housing for people moving out of homelessness.
The Unit Turn Technician ensures timely and high-quality apartment turnovers, creating safe, functional, and welcoming homes for Catholic Charities clients. This role is essential to helping individuals move from homelessness to housing quickly and with dignity.
In addition to apartment turns, the Technician assists with day-to-day facilities operations across multiple Catholic Charities properties, supporting safety, maintenance, and upkeep. The position performs tasks across several building trades and includes light custodial work as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Turn over recently vacated units to prepare them for new residents.
Perform moderate cleaning to ensure readiness for occupancy, coordinate with contracted cleaning teams for specialized needs.
Complete light repairs-replace fixtures, patch and paint walls, repair or replace flooring, and confirm all doors, windows, and appliances function properly.
Identify maintenance or cleaning needs that require contracted support and communicate promptly to the supervisor.
Maintain a safety-first mindset, ensuring a safe environment for both residents and staff.
Support ongoing maintenance requests and facility repairs as assigned.
Use a company or personal vehicle to travel between properties and pick up supplies; mileage reimbursement provided for personal vehicle use.
Monitor properties for needed repairs or replacements.
Practice environmental responsibility by ensuring proper waste and recycling management and promptly reporting hazardous conditions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and building safety.
Graduate of a building maintenance or trade program preferred.
HVAC experience preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in building maintenance, room turns, or a related trade.
Valid Minnesota driver's license required.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Basic computer proficiency in Windows-based systems
Commitment to working compassionately and respectfully with diverse and/or low-income populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, or mental illness.

Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders and stairs, stand, walk, and turn/pivot frequently throughout the duration of the workday
Report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete the scheduled workday on a consistent basis
Sitting required infrequently throughout the duration of the workday
Lift, lower, push, pull, leverage and manipulate equipment and/or packages weighing up to 70 pounds
Simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, reaching from foot level to above shoulder level as necessary to complete assigned tasks
Operate standard/manual transmission
Operate power, pneumatic tools
Work in an environment with: variable temperatures and humidity (climatic conditions), exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, and noise, outside inclement weather
Work cooperatively in a diverse work environment
Have a sufficient ability to communicate, through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions

Essential Tasks
Check-in core parts.
Fabricate and assemble drive shafts.
Read blueprints when furnished by the customer for special fabrication and assembly of the driveshaft.
Repair drive shafts according to company standards.
Operate washers and other cleaning equipment as well as boxing station.
Train new employees on the proper use and maintenance of equipment and facilities utilized in the performance of their job. Follow-up to ensure results are achieved.
Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Physical Demands
Handling of normal stock will include lifting or carrying parts in excess of 60 lbs. up to 15% of the time. Majority of lifting and carrying will involve parts between 5 and 60 lbs.

Equipment
OSHA approved steel-toed safety shoes required from the first day of this job.

Education
High School Diploma ( GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
