Wardrobe Technician Job Description
This position is set to start late Janurary. The Wardrobe Technician is responsible for maintaining, organizing, and executing all wardrobe and costume-related operations for performances and rehearsals. This role ensures that costumes are cleaned, repaired, and preset properly and that all quick changes, dressing needs, and backstage costume operations run smoothly during each show. This role is a full-time and works during all shows, rehersals, and show change overs.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and preset costumes, wigs, and accessories before each performance or rehearsal.
Assist performers with costume changes, quick changes, and dressing needs during shows.
Maintain costume cleanliness, perform minor repairs, and coordinate larger repairs with the costume shop.
Track costume pieces and maintain accurate records of inventory, repairs, and cleaning schedules.
Collaborate closely with stage management, and performers to ensure efficient backstage operations.
Follow all costume handling, laundering, and maintenance procedures to preserve costume quality and design integrity.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with cast, crew, and creative teams.
Uphold safety and organization standards in dressing rooms, laundry, and backstage areas.
Assist with load-ins, load-outs, fittings, costume notes, and strikes as needed.
Support additional wardrobe and costume-related projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in theatrical wardrobe, costume construction, or a related field preferred.
Strong sewing, mending, and garment care skills.
Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously while managing shifting priorities
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
A strong record of reliability and punctuality is essential.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the production schedule.
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and move quickly and safely backstage.

Work Environment:
This position works primarily backstage in a live theatre environment, requiring flexibility, teamwork, and discretion. Regular night and weekend availability is required based on performance schedules.
