Performs visual inspection of pipe Outer Diameter, Inner Diameter, and bevels for specification conformity. Performs dimensional checks on pipe such as straightness, ovality, wall thickness, squareness, etc.
Detects all discontinuities in weld.
Determines the acceptance or rejection based on evaluation of signal response to applicable standards.
Selects and identifies pipe for lab testing, as well as samples to be cut and broken or polished for continuing metallographic study of product quality. Operates Plasma torch and Hydraulic press.
Verifies pipe identity and keeps a permanent record, written or electronic, of defects and the final disposition of pipe through data entry within the Manufacturing Execution System.
Verifies NDT system calibration.
Be very familiar with the products and processes that are being used in order to explain ultrasonic inspection to customers.
Watches for deformation of pipe occurring during hydrostatic testing, as required.
Performs final line inspection and preliminary mill line inspection, as required, during normal production and performs other duties, as necessitated or directed, depending on shop conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have successfully performed the job of Quality Assurance Inspector or Lab Technician Mechanical Testing (or similar job within a manufacturing environment).
Must be capable of completing ASNT-TC-1A test and requirements for Level II ultrasonic testing, Magnetic Particle testing, and Level II visual testing within 2 years of being on the job.

The Technician is responsible for performing jobs involving the service and repair of equipment, working both independently and on a team. Examples of the types of machinery that the candidate must be able to evaluate, and repair include earth moving equipment, diesel engines, electric power generators, lift trucks, and allied products. Extensive on the job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning must be successfully completed to remain in the technician training program. The Technician will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. The Technician will advance in classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.
Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures
Orders and return parts for assigned jobs in timely manner
Ability to perform the following tasks on basic components in work area including engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical components: remove and install; disassemble and reassemble; perform minor adjustments
Ability to perform Preventive Maintenance service according to factory guidelines
Demonstrates proper use of service information systems
