About the Role - Solar O&M Technician L2/L3 A leading 3rd party O&M provider for C&I Solar and BESS projects are seeking a skilled Field Technician to support the operation and maintenance of commercial-scale as well as Residential solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems. This role involves diagnosing and resolving system issues, performing emergency and corrective maintenance, implementing design changes, and upgrading equipment. The technician will also conduct preventative maintenance, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) inspections, system commissioning, and pre-construction site assessments to ensure optimal system performance. This position will be site based and you must live within an hour of the following locations: Westbury NY/Long Island Key Responsibilities of Solar O&M Technician L2/L3 Perform routine O&M tasks including electrical and mechanical inspections, infrared (IR) scanning, torque checks, and site condition evaluations. Respond to system alarms and dispatch as necessary. Document findings and actions in detailed inspection and service reports. Ensure systems are operating at peak performance and efficiency. Manage site upkeep, including vegetation control and general conditioning. Collaborate with project managers to ensure a smooth hand-off from construction to maintenance phases. Coordinate with engineering, operations, and management teams to resolve maintenance issues promptly. Maintain a safe work environment by strictly following safety protocols. Conduct audits to ensure compliance with operational standards. Enforce site-specific procedures and guidelines. Carry out system assessments and QA/QC inspections. Qualifications for Solar O&M Technician L2/L3 Associate degree in Engineering or equivalent technical training/certification. Licensed Electrician and/or NABCEP certification is a plus. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. At least one year of experience with commercial battery storage systems preferred. Ability to work independently and remotely. Experience in project or field operations management is advantageous. Familiarity with power electronics, metering, and testing equipment. Knowledge of centralized control systems such as DAS, SCADA, or EMS. Understanding of commercial power plant operations. Proficiency in reading technical documents, including electrical/mechanical drawings and equipment manuals. Experience with CMMS platforms and mobile reporting tools. Virtual will require the ability to conduct training via Webex. OJT will require a candidate to conduct training while inside our customers' homes and working on their products. State inspection license.preferred * Properly complete the services and/or repairs for which the Technician is trained as assigned by management or their designated representatives (i.e. Roadside dispatcher). * Complete all work according to the applicable safety requirements and published procedures. * Maintain an inventory of normal technician's tools to include screwdrivers, wrenches, socket wrenches, pliers, hammers, chisels and punches, and other tools needed to perform the work which the Technician is trained and not normally inventoried by the Service Department as "special tools, equipment and manuals". * Properly use and care for the tools, equipment and manuals provided by the Service Department. * Participate in and utilize to the best of one's abilities technical training as assigned by management. * Produce quality work and strive to keep comebacks at or below the levels set by management. * Maintain the Night Roadside truck assigned in an organized and clean manner. * Ensure that customer's vehicles are returned to them as clean or cleaner as they were prior to being serviced. * Maintain personal grooming, hygiene and uniform standards according to departmental policies. * Arrive at work, take breaks, and depart work at the times designated by management. * Show common courtesy to all customers and dealership personnel. * Make every effort to achieve the production objectives set by management. * Review the technical bulletins and other publications as assigned by management. * Complete all paperwork needed to support the work done for submissions of warranty repair orders, payroll and other tasks assigned by management. * Use shop supplies and materials in a practical and economical manner. * Constructively communicate with other dealership personnel as required to satisfy customer needs. * Report to management any situation or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its personnel, or customers. Working alongside the maintenance supervisors, engineers, and coordinating with outside vendors, this position is responsible for all activities related to managing work orders, maintenance plans and building asset management. The CMMS technician is the subject matter expert for the system and ensures that other users are trained, KPI's are created and reported on, the CMMS database is maintained, and integrations with other systems, such as the Smartbuilding software, work as designed. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, balancing strategic thinking and analytical skills with results orientation and excellent problem-solving skills in a highly energetic and fast paced environment. Working conditions: The normal work environment is an office setting; however, this position will be expected to frequently interface with mechanics and/or engineers in the media production environment. The manufacturing areas may be outdoors (cold temperature extremes) or indoors (high temperature extremes). This environment also requires the use of PPE such as hearing protection, hard hat, safety glasses, and protective shoes. Certain areas in the manufacturing buildings also require hair nets, beard/mustache covers and Tyvek clothing. Certain areas restrict the use of unapproved electronic devices. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Referral, intake and admission of clients. Crisis intervention. Record keeping including charts and log book. Process discharged clients. Oversee custodial needs of in-house clients such as laundry and assisting in maintaining an orderly and clean environment. Assist with preparation of meals when necessary.
