The PICU is a regional referral center for all critically ill and injured children that operates 24/7. The primary purpose of the PICU is to provide optimal state of the art critical care nursing to any infant, child or adolescent who presents with a serious injury and/or illness. Care is provided for patients from birth to 18 years of age. Older patients are cared for on a case-by-case basis. The Intensive Care Unit technician (ICU Tech) position is part of the healthcare team in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The ICU tech performs tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and as directed by the department nurse manager. The ICU tech will provide assistance in the maintenance of supplies pertaining to the ICU, and will assist with quality assurance activities for the ICU. Other Duties as Assigned Required Qualifications High School diploma or GED One year recent experience (within the past 5 years) providing patient care in an ICU or similar setting. One year of recent OHSU Lift Team experience in the ICU setting will substitute for the patient care experience. 12-lead EKG, CBG QC compliance, and Rehab training completion will be required within 6 months of hire. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
