On February 17, 1872, the newly elected Suffolk County Assemblyman John S. Marcy introduced the bill to the New York State Legislature.

The Village of Babylon incorporated in 1893.

1894

Amityville – incorporated 1894

1910

In 1910, the line was extended west to Amityville for trolley cars.

1918

The Town Board held its first meeting in the new Town Hall on November 6, 1918.

1923

Lindenhurst – incorporated 1923

1958

On October 18, 1958, a new Town Hall located at 200 East Sunrise Highway in North Lindenhurst was dedicated and is still in use today.

2020

The Town of Babylon has been awarded with a 2020 Project Excellence Award from Preservation Long Island for the repair and adaptive reuse of the Oak Beach Life-Saving Station/Community Center.
