Town of Kernersville company history timeline

1813

In 1813 William Dobson sold his 1032 acres “at the crossroad” to Gottlieb Schober.

1858

Harmon House, circa 1858, is a second charming historical home worth an afternoon tour and a definite look next time you’re scouting out the perfect event venue that’s also a cherished landmark.

1873

The 1873 railroad depot on North Main Street showcases the appearance of a passenger rail station, complete with a ticket office and waiting areas.

The town lost no time moving forward and by 1873 the railroad came through the town of Kernersville and brought with it a boom in population.

1880

Built in 1880 in Kernersville, the house originally served to display his interior design portfolio.

1952

Originally the 1952 lake was the Town of Kernersville water source for their residents until the Town hooked on to City/County utility water lines.

1980

The Town of Kernersville came to Forsyth County for assistance in the late 1980's in opening Kernersville Lake as a public park.

1990

Opened in mid 1990, Kernersville Lake Park has a total of 160 acres, 60 acres of which are taken up by the lake itself.
