Town of Orange Park company history timeline

1877

The town was founded by the organization called Florida Improvement and Winter Home Company in 1877.

1891

Fueled by an economy built on farming, sawmills, tourism and naval stores, Orange Park became home to the Orange Park Normal and Industrial School in 1891.

1922

In 1922, Hotel Marion was acquired by Moosehart.

1970

After the opening of the Buckman Bridge in 1970 and the Orange Park Mall five years later, the rural landscape surrounding Orange Park gave way to suburban sprawl.

1977

By 1977, the western beltway of I-295 was also completed, allowing access to Orange Park from I-10.

1980

Over the next few decades, the city’s population grew exponentially, climbing up over 8,000 by 1980.

1995

The new Town Hall built in 1995 is a tribute to the Town of Orange Park and stands as an outstanding example of the character of residents and the farsightedness of those who call Orange Park home.

2015

The Coastal is a local magazine in Jacksonville, FL, founded in 2015 to bring you stories about the past, present, and future of the First Coast.

2019

Completed in late 2019 at the cost of $2 million, River Road now features smooth paving and continuous riverfront sidewalks, making it the perfect place to experience a piece of old Florida on a nice sunny day.
