Town Of Pittsford history

The completion of the Erie Canal in 1825 not only was a boon to the town of Pittsford, but also led to the rapid growth of the village of Rochesterville.

The exterior is very much the same as when it was built in 1842 but the interior has been remodeled to serve as a meeting hall and public room specific to the Masonic order.

The marble industry grew changing Florence to a mix of farms and quarrying by 1850.

25, 1921 - Henry Perrigo bought the mill along with the Victor Flour Mill.

The McConnell Family, who owned a dairy business located on Penn Street (now Washington Road) was one of the first businesses to take title to the property when, in 1932, it was no longer needed as a station house.

The grain tower that is so highly visible, creating "Pittsford's Skyline" was built in 1938.

Theodore Zornow in 1940 and was used primarily for storing red kidney beans, a major crop of local farmers.

Lathrop Green bought the property in 1945

In 1948 the mill was sold to the Muller Co. of Rotterdam, Holland.

The O'Neill family took over the ownership in 1959 and retained that reputation as an establishment that offered fine dining.

The company burned in the Spring of 1961 and the McConnells rebuilt making the exterior of the building more "colonial" in design and in keeping with other construction taking place in Pittsford.

That endeavor ended in 1996 and the building remained empty and grew unsightly until two local entrepreneurs purchased it and, after extensive remodeling, have greatly improved its exterior looks without changing its style.

According to 2000 census records, there are 27,219 residents, with 9448 households, a median income of $102,215 and a median value of homes of $183,100.

The construction began in winter of 2003 and absorbed much of the former parking for the Spring House restaurant.
