Pros of working at Town Pump

The ability to enroll in their health insurance policy. They offer life insurance. The ability to further your education. Mental health services. Paid time off. Holiday pay. Free soda or coffee. Raises in a reasonable time frame. Career advancement opportunities. The ability to transfer locations. A wide range of customer types.

Cons of working at Town Pump

High turnover rate. Sometimes unreliable coworkers. The point system for absences.

Town Pump benefits

Paid time off, raises, and my coworkers.

What do you like best about Town Pump's CEO and the leadership team?

My manager is tough but fair. She is a hard worker and doesn't just do the boss role, she jumps in where ever help is needed. She takes the time and makes the effort to communicate with you.

How would you improve Town Pump's culture?

My only complaint I would like to be better addressed is building/location maintenance and upgrades. My store is one of the older locations and the building and equipment shoe their age.

How did you prepare for the Town Pump interview?

I made sure to be confident and express my abilities and skills. I was honest and up front about my personal life situations.

How does your compensation at Town Pump compare to the industry average?

My location does pay more than the other stores in neighboring towns. Holiday pay is time and a half. I asked for full time and was given 40 hours a week right from day one. I have been there long enough to aquire a few raises. I appreciate that if you transfer locations your pay rate doesn't change it and your paid time off go with you.

What's the diversity at Town Pump like?

My store is a larger truck stop so our customers are from all over the spectrum of diversity. My coworkers are equally diverse. Some of my favorite co workers on my shift are young enough to be my kids and some are old enough to be my parent.

What brings you the most joy at Town Pump?

I enjoy a faster paced job where I stay busy and am not standing around feeling useless. I love my customers. Some of my regulars have become part of my everyday life. It makes me so happy to hear customers ask about me if I am not there on my regular days/shifts. I appreciate my coworkers and the bonds we have formed. It has turned into a second family with them. I had the opportunity for a different job closer to my home and turned it down because of the people I work with and my customers.

Pros of working at Town Pump

The things you’ll get from customers who can’t take things back with them, tips n that’s about it. Getting weed from customers who cannot take it across the border with them is a common occurrence.

Cons of working at Town Pump

-management consistently changes or is irresponsible in what they do, hiring people too nice for their own good or letting people do whatever they want. -the pay isn’t good enough if you aren’t in some type of big town especially if people consistently call off or quit, you’ll be routinely working by yourself due to it. You could call out 4/5 days you work n not get fired at this point, you get nothing in return for doing extra.

Town Pump benefits

Nope, nada, none

What do you like best about Town Pump's CEO and the leadership team?

Nothing.

How did you prepare for the Town Pump interview?

I walked in.

How would you improve Town Pump's culture?

Give actual decent pay to the ones that are still under 15$/hr Hire competent people and management that don’t slack off or do anything but assist the people who actually work. Repair issues that need to be repaired in a timely manner that aren’t left to fester for months on end.

How does your compensation at Town Pump compare to the industry average?

Badly. 13$/hr is not nearly enough to actively live on.

What's the diversity at Town Pump like?

There isn’t any, your coworkers could be the worst people imaginable and they wouldn’t do anything.

What brings you the most joy at Town Pump?

Clocking off for the day.

Pros of working at Town Pump

The few people at the bottom of the barrel that stick it out with you. Those few and you are in the same sinking ship.

Cons of working at Town Pump

The first thing that comes to mind is the point system. Where you accrue negative points for things that they deem negatively impactful in performance/work productivity. I had doctors notes for separate occasions when I got covid and then norovirus. I accrued points for both times, despite the fact that I provided plenty of notice about my sickness and proof from my doctor. The management made up things that I said near the end of my tenure and instructed me not to say them. I upheld everyone I worked with the entirety of my employment. This all came as a surprise to me. I was beyond confused. I finally put in my two-weeks notice when I brought notice of a racist coworker who is committing animal cruelty to my supervisor. She told me "everyone beats their dogs." I put in my two-weeks notice on the spot. I do not recommend working here. Luckily I found employment elsewhere (Costco) nearly immediately and the difference is night and day. At Town Pump, they do not appreciate you. They make up rumors behind your back. They do not respect a good attitude or work ethic. If you are an obsequious, racist, evil individual, Town Pump is for you. Otherwise, stay the heck away!

Town Pump benefits

Leaving felt pretty good. Nah, but seriously. The 401k is okay. That's it though. Health benefits are hard to maintain as you need to work an average of 40 hours, so they tell you to consistently work overtime to maintain it (which is ironic because when you need it, you're gonna be calling in sick). I could go on, but I'm giving myself PTSD.

What do you like best about Town Pump's CEO and the leadership team?

LOL

How would you improve Town Pump's culture?

Rehiring the entire management and providing fair pay for every employee at the bottom.

How did you prepare for the Town Pump interview?

Just show up.

How does your compensation at Town Pump compare to the industry average?

Badly

What's the diversity at Town Pump like?

Town Pump is the opposite of embracing diversity.

What brings you the most joy at Town Pump?

I got so much anxiety from this place. The only joy I got was hours after clocking off and finally being able to ignore it.

Pros of working at Town Pump

some positions with the company can make a decent living.

Cons of working at Town Pump

The company is very superficial. It only really cares about public perception. It doesn't care about its employees at all. Management is underpaid, all employees are underappreciated, Upper management often have expectations that are unrealistic given differences in customer bases from location to location. You will likely be under a microscope most of the time depending on district or reginal manager. As some will spend a lot of hours watching camera footage watching the employees. So enjoy Management breathing down your neck.

Town Pump benefits

They have a 401k match, But since hourly wage is a joke it makes little difference. after reviewing insurance options and other Benefits I can safely say You will be disappointed with what they have to offer.

What do you like best about Town Pump's CEO and the leadership team?

Nothing

How would you improve Town Pump's culture?

Frankly they need to take more feedback from their bottom line, instead of constantly implementing new policies, that only make working for them harder. As soon as a likely one-off incident happens, they come out with a new policy, and it just makes things more stressful.

How did you prepare for the Town Pump interview?

Depends I interviewed with 2 managers at 2 different locations. 1 Interviewed in the generic boring old-school way with basic questions and answers. The other me and the manager "Shot the shit" for 30 minutes. guess which hired me.

How does your compensation at Town Pump compare to the industry average?

Since even my GM makes around $17.50 an hour and many fast food places start kids around that I'd say they underpay everyone.

What brings you the most joy at Town Pump?

costumer interactions.

There are fun challenges to increase sales, presentation, and overall experience for consumers.
