The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective assembly of plastic injection molded parts before they undergo painting or coating processes, ensuring that these components meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and timeliness.
This role is critical to Toyoda Gosei s production process, supporting our commitment to delivering high-quality parts to Toyota and other automotive manufacturers in the U.S. and Mexico.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision of Assembly Operations: Lead and manage the assembly team, ensuring that all injection molded parts are properly assembled,
inspected, and ready for painting or coating. Ensure that assembly operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with established production schedules.
Quality Control & Standards: Maintain and enforce strict quality control processes throughout the assembly line. Ensure all parts meet Toyoda Gosei s and customer specifications before advancing to painting/coating stages. Address and resolve any quality concerns promptly,
in collaboration with the quality assurance team.
Workplace Safety: Prioritize and enforce a culture of safety within the assembly area. Ensure that safety standards, procedures, and regulations are followed by all team members at all times, and that assembly-related work areas are properly maintained to prevent accidents and injuries.
Continuous Improvement: Foster an environment of continuous improvement within the assembly department. Collaborate with other teams to identify areas for efficiency improvements, waste reduction, and process optimization.
Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and other initiatives to enhance the performance of the assembly line.
Training & Development: Oversee the training and development of assembly team members, ensuring they are well-versed in product specifications, assembly processes, safety practices, and quality standards. Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and skill growth.
Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with production planning, engineering, quality control, and logistics teams to ensure seamless transitions between the assembly, painting/coating, and shipment processes. Coordinate with the shipping department to ensure timely and accurate delivery of completed parts to customers.
Performance Metrics: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to assembly throughput, quality rates, downtime, and other relevant metrics. Take proactive measures to meet or exceed production targets and maintain a high level of operational efficiency.
Qualifications

Understanding of the manufacturing processes

Set up a budget for Supervisor to approve expedites to and from customers or suppliers without having to wait for approval from Manager
Must work with cycle counters to determine and troubleshoot inventory discrepancies. Set frequencies on materials to be cycle counted, while giving guidance and training on these things
Must work with the Accounting Department for shipping and receiving issues
Work closely with the Warehouse personnel to supply training and guidance
Responsible for scheduling OT, time off and vacations for hourly staff
Responsible for reporting to Material Manager on day to day issues that cannot be resolved or approved by Supervisor
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Ensure the efficient flow of material in support of established production schedules
Schedule UAW represented material handling personnel
Lead cross-shift team meetings and stand-downs
Maintain employee time and attendance records in Plex ERP system to ensure accurate payroll processing and attendance tracking
Provide formal forklift instruction and practical training, as well as evaluate employee performance to issue material handling equipment certification
Direct and oversee shipping and receive activities
Schedule outbound freight to comply with operations and capacity
Verify proper labels and tickets have been applied prior to shipping
Ensure accuracy of all shipping and receiving documents
Maintain shipping, receiving, and inventory records in ERP system (Plex)
Ensure shipping counts match picking documents
Verify physical rack inventory matches records in customer systems
Communicate shipping schedules to customers
Participate in cycle counts and help maintain accuracy of inventory
Maintain production job schedules
Eliminate waste through safety, quality, and MP&L process improvement initiatives

While specific experience is not required for this part of the position, previous work in customer service, employee training, or at minimum demonstrate strong leadership skills and people skills.
