OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Inspect the equipment before beginning to operate for safety including tightening of tractor lug bolts and checking for proper air pressure in tires.
2. Inspect all fluid levels and add fluids as necessary.
3. Find and lubricate all grease fittings on tractor and mower.
4. Apply oil to all bat wing mower hinges and any accessible moving parts where wear can take place.
5. Inspect mower blades for sharpness and make sure there is no visible damage.
6. Perform mowing operations only in assigned area.
7. Maintain vigilance for debris or any foreign object in the tractor's path and remove debris before cutting the affected area.
8. Notify the Lead Tractor Operator or Site Supervisor of any area which needs to be either sprayed with herbicide or weeded by hand.
9. Notify the Lead Tractor Operator or Site Supervisor of any wet area that may be rutted by the tractor before entering that area. Do not enter this area without Lead or Supervisor authorization.
10.Clean air condition filter every Monday during mowing season.
11.Do not operate in any condition you feel is unsafe for any reason. Notify the Lead or Site Supervisor for direction.
12.Do not cross any swales on the air field. Mow parallel to the swales and cross only on areas designated by the Lead or Site Supervisor as "crossable".
13.Report any personnel injury or damage to the tractor, mower, or Navy property immediately to the Lead or Site Supervisor.
14.The Tractor Operator may be assigned to grounds maintenance duties at grounds maintenance pay, when necessary.

Mower Tractor Operator

INTRODUCTION
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, performs those mowing and tractor tasks necessary to meet contract specifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
*1. Uses full-size tractors, including front-end loader, riding mowers, and broadcast spreaders.
*2. Using a tractor-mounted skid steer spreader, applies lime, fertilizer, grass seed, herbicides, and pesticides.
*3. Performs large-scale mowing of the assigned work areas.
*4. Reports any abnormalities in trees, shrubs, and grass.
*5. Performs basic maintenance and cleaning of all tractors and attachments.
*6. Reports any repairs/maintenance needed for tractors.
*7. Plows snow as needed.
*8. Follows all safety procedures.
*9. Maintains lawn in conformance to the specifications of the contract.
*10. Performs other landscape-related tasks as needed.

The incumbent is supervised by the Project Manager.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
The incumbent must be able to stand/walk 50% of the work time and sit 50%. These requirements are necessary to operate tractors and vehicles and to perform grounds tasks, including pruning, weeding, and mulching; must be able to lift/carry/push/pull 100 pounds, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and handle, in order to load and unload materials and equipment, maintain repairs of tractors and performs grounds tasks, including planting and cutting trees. He/she must be alert to safety hazards and must be able to communicate with other workers/supervisors; must possess good vision and be able to differentiate colors. Mainly work outside. Working conditions are subject to extreme temperature/weather conditions, dust, dirt, fumes, or flying objects (grass).
QUALIFICATIONS
One to two years tractor experience, preferably grounds-related. Prior experience with individuals with differing abilities and/or some supervisory experience desired. One or two years' general landscape experience with some familiarity with pesticides is desirable. Must have a clean driving record.
