The Driver is responsible for safely operating a heavy-duty truck to perform assigned duties on container delivery, recycling, residential, commercial, or industrial (roll-off) routes. This position is responsible for efficiently servicing assigned customers, while complying with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and with Company policies. Operates vehicle in accordance with Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA)/Department of Transportation (DOT) requires as well as all local, state and federal requirements. Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle utilizing standard Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR). Responsible for reporting any vehicle deficiencies prior to and after each route day. Ensures vehicle is operating correctly while on the route and notifies Route Supervisor/Dispatch/Maintenance of any concerns. Understands and practices all policies and procedures as described per Athens Services Safety Rules. Makes use of standard tools and resources provided by the Company. Clean area around any accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies. Identify unsatisfactory waste barrels and tag containers due to contamination of waste streams. Follow all applicable rules and protocols when disposing at the Material Recovery Facility (MRF). Maintain a clean and safe vehicle. Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body (where appropriate) on each disposal trip. Ensure all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn while operating specific machinery. Participates and cooperates in all scheduled training, briefings, and Safety meetings as required by the Company. Works closely with Route Supervisors to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe accounts. Performs all duties as scheduled by Route Supervisor or Dispatch, assisting operations as directed. Immediately notifies Route Supervisor of any incidents/accidents/injures/property damages. Communicates customer requests/issues to Dispatch/Route Supervisor. Completely dumps all containers and leaves the customer's location clean and free of debris. Properly positions containers on the customer's property. Follows route assignments throughout the day and completes all documentation when checking-in at the end of the route. Provides a positive and professional attitude when dealing with customers. Working in Windy/Hot/Cold/Wet environments, working around heavy equipment, working among refuse and exposed to dusty conditions. Frequent exposure to traffic, being aware of all your surroundings, maintain a high level of communication with others. GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTIONS: * Responsible for transporting client/staff via company vehicle to assigned designation (i.e., resident, other healthcare facilities, court, etc.) as assigned. * Maintain accurate vehicle trip-tickets which are turned into the Transportation Supervisor or Director, on a daily basis for filing and reference as required. * Comply with State of California reporting requirements in the event of any vehicle accident; make immediate telephone contact with the Support Services Director for further instructions and prepare an Incident Report upon immediate return to the Agency for submission to the Support Services Director and Chief Operating Officer, Administrative Services, according to established guidelines. * Contact Transportation Services and/or Switchboard Operator in advance (daily) of morning assignment to confirm any cancellations. * Communicate with Transportation Services from each assignment to the Agency (in advance) for possible re-routing/scheduling instructions. * May be required to assist in other transportation services (special request) which may include; other facilities/Agencies, post office, county offices, vendor pick-up/deliveries, employee transportation etc. * Report vehicle service needs requiring professional assistance to the Supervisor or Director, in a timely manner and follow-up as necessary to ensure vehicle safety and reliability. * Must comply with all federal, state, Agency, and other regulatory body required relating passenger safety policies/procedures. * Vehicle maintenance duties include: inspect vehicle for safety/repair deficiencies and report status to supervisor daily, ensure vehicle is cleaned and fueled by the end of daily work shift, ensure vehicle is parked in assigned area, doors/windows are locked accordingly. * Practice confidentiality in all client, employee, and management related matters. * Assist in preserving Kedren's mission, goals, and objectives; and help management in establishing its internal service delivery goals and objectives that are consistent with the organization's public service mission statement. * Participate in the fundraising activities of Kedren. * Assist in other duties and special projects as assigned.

DEFINITION Operates light vehicles and specialized motorized equipment to pull refuse bins out of subterranean garages and commercial or residential areas. Picks up, hauls and disposes of bulky items and heavy trash. SUPERVISION Receives direct supervision from a Resource Recovery and Recycling Supervisor and/or designee who makes detailed work assignments, frequently reviews work in progress, and evaluates assigned tasks and work. Exercises no supervision over staff. Only the first 50 qualified applications received will be accepted for further consideration. Representative Duties Responds to work order assignments to pick up bulky and large trash items from residential and commercial customers. Follows assigned route by utilizing a route sheet; removes, and places bins back according to assigned route sheet. Loads, hauls and disposes of trash, debris and heavy objects. Operates a variety of refuse collection equipment such as stake bed trucks and bin trucks in the collection of commercial and residential refuse. Performs heavy manual work in the daily collection of trash. May empty containers into designated refuse trucks. Compacts the refuse in the collection vehicle when necessary to ensure good loads and prevent littering of streets. Responds to reports of damaged refuse and recycling containers and performs repairs using a variety of hand tools. Responds to calls on two-way radio. Provides customer service in the field. Performs a daily safety check and routine servicing of assigned refuse collection vehicles. Prepare simple reports. Address safety-related issues on the operation of collection vehicles and/or new equipment. Identifies and reports damaged containers. Follows applicable safety rules and regulations.
