CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Probationary Period: Successful completion of the San Bernardino County Fire Tower (Academy) is required, and includes completion of the Firefighter I Certification through the California State Fire Service Training and Education System. Upon successful completion of the above Tower, incumbents will be appointed to a Firefighter - Paramedic Trainee position.
Promotion: Incumbents in the Firefighter Paramedic Trainee classification are eligible for promotion to Firefighter Paramedic upon meeting the minimum qualifications with a satisfactory work performance evaluation. Employees must qualify for promotion to Firefighter Paramedic within 36 months or may be terminated.
During the period of Trainee appointment, the Trainee shall have probationary status, in accordance with the Personnel Rules of the Board Governed Special Districts. Appointments to the higher classification are subject to a new probationary period.
Certifications: Firefighter Paramedic Trainees must possess and maintain all job-required certifications, including CA EMT Certification and CPR.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform during high stress situations. Must be able to hear in the normal audio range, without correction. Must possess the strength and stamina sufficient to lift and carry equipment and individuals, and be able to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus. Vision must be correctable to 20/20. May be required to pass a color perception test. Must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
Other Requirements: Applicants will be fingerprinted and must pass a thorough background investigation which may include, but is not limited to, the following: fingerprinting for a Department of Justice criminal background check, polygraph, pre-employment psychological evaluation, DMV driving record check, military record check, reference checks, and review of prior employment history check. The test measures aerobic endurance and stamina necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

Position Overview
During the first year Trevose, Pennsylvania, the program includes in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in Underwriting, Claims, IT and Finance. Trainees progress during the second and subsequent years into Surety Underwriter positions at a branch location with greater underwriting and leadership responsibility.
Timeline and Performance Objectives
During the first 6 months: Understand surety underwriting operations. Work with Underwriting, Claims, Finance and IT departments on various projects. Understand the factors that affect and influence bond ratings and risks. Ask a lot of questions to understand the concepts and processes.
During the first year: Review underwriting submissions and write the basic analysis of bond applicants' financial statements, collateral, and related due diligence. Cultivate relationships with internal and external contacts to facilitate underwriting processes, promote business development, and stay current with industry trends. Find creative and analytical solutions to support branch underwriting activity. Complete the Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) certification.
Beyond the first year: Relocate to a branch office. Determine the degree of underwriting risk on a variety of contract and commercial surety bonds, with increasing underwriting authority over time. Expand business opportunities through customer outreach, marketing activities, participation in industry events, and other business development initiatives.
Education and Experience
We prefer a bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Business Administration, or the equivalent education and/or experience.
The role is an entry-level underwriting position. Internship(s) or experience in business or a related area is preferred.
Willingness to relocate to a TMHCC Surety branch office, including among the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington.
For candidates working in person in Los Angeles, the reasonable pay range for this specific position is $27.95 to $38.41 per hour. Responsibilities
Participate in formal training and OJT to meet UT Level II certification requirements
Perform ultrasonic testing activities under supervision, progressing toward independent work
Assist with standard and routine UT inspections in accordance with written procedures and applicable codes
Set up, calibrate, and operate ultrasonic testing equipment as training progresses
Accurately record inspection results and support data review and reporting activities
Follow all safety, quality, and procedural requirements
