Datacenter infrastructure encompasses the physical and virtual resources that support a data center's operations. This includes hardware like servers, storage, networking equipment, power systems, energy systems, and cooling systems, as well as software for resource management and virtualization. The infrastructure is crucial for ensuring the data center's efficiency, security, and reliability.
The Power Systems Intern candidate should have fundamental knowledge related to a variety of the power systems deployed in today's data center.
This includes the AC/DC and DC/DC power generation, power distribution, backup, monitoring, management, cooling and optimization.
Under the guidance of a team leader, the candidate will focus on a problem solution matching their discipline, with a plan to design, build, and test an actual demo solution. The concept would be to analyze the system solution offering disruptive improvements for the data center energy and thermal management operations using ADI's portfolio.
The role requires a minimum masters (PhD preferred) educational level along with some relevant lab-based expertise. The Intern will collaborate cross functionally with mechanical, electrical, and software/firmware engineering teams as well as marketing teams to develop this new innovative concept.

Position Summary
The Program on Integrative Medicine (PIM) within the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking qualified candidates for a Postdoctoral fellowship.
The goal of this T32 training program is to cultivate diverse, well-trained, independent researchers at postdoctoral level for leadership in investigating efficacy, effectiveness, mechanisms of action, and implementation strategies for clinical integration of effective CIH therapies into healthcare practice.
Research trainees will have the opportunity to:
1) receive rigorous training that emphasizes the development and implementation of clinical trials, including feasibility testing, mechanism evaluations, advanced quantitative and qualitative methods, systematic reviews/meta-analysis, and implementation science methods
2) receive a firm grounding in CIH concepts and research issues
3) participate in the ongoing research of strong mentors
4) develop and conduct significant studies that will provide a foundation for future funded research
5) participate in the development of innovative research tools and measures to better examine CIH approaches to care.
This is a full-time hybrid position for one year with an option for renewal contingent upon performance and funding availability. Candidates will need to reside in commuting distance of UNC and come to campus at least 2 days a week.
Required fellowship activities include the following:
* Participation in a primary research project with Drs. Gaylord, Giscombe, Faurot, and potentially another approved UNC faculty mentor. Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Development of an original research area that aligns with ongoing research projects at the Program on Integrative Medicine or other UNC collaborators.
* Attendance at the Responsible Conduct of Research courses offered by the NC TraCS Institute. Attendance at the fall semester course, Principles, and Practices of Alternative and Complementary Medicine Course.
* Attendance at the T-32 Fellows Weekly Seminar with in-person meetings scheduled monthly.
* Creation of an Individual Development Plan (IDP) in collaboration with fellowship directors that aligns with the Program on Integrative Medicine's research mission to be submitted in September and March each year.
* Meeting with one of the Fellowship Directors every 2 weeks to check in and with all three directors biannually (September/October, March/April) to review progress toward IDP goals.
* Coursework at UNC-Chapel Hill relevant to the educational research needs of the fellow. This can be non-degree graduate coursework or coursework as part of an optional research degree (e.g., Master's in Clinical Research).
* Attendance at an integrative health conference annually and other selected conferences and seminars approved by the Fellowship Directors.
* Research presentation at one or more national meetings per year as well as to groups within the university.
* Submission of 1-3 manuscripts the first year (expectations depending on prior preparation) and 2-3 manuscripts the second year to peer-reviewed journals, with at least one first-authored manuscript.

As a STEM Student Trainee (SST), you will gain hands-on experience, network with company leaders, and explore different areas of Caterpillar. Through teamwork and business interactions, you will sharpen your skills, present ideas, and track progress - while preparing for an exciting future in STEM.
What You Will Do
You will join a team with diverse project responsibilities and have valuable networking opportunities with Caterpillar employees at all levels. The program is a 40-hour-per-week assignment lasting 8 weeks.
You can focus on building technical abilities in roles including (but not limited to):
* Product Design: Engineer components & systems for Caterpillar products to meet our customers' needs. Deliver solutions by leading collaboration with cross functional teams throughout our value chain starting from initial concept through production.
* Simulation/Performance Analysis: CFD - Computational Fluid Dynamics (ANSYS), FEA - Finite Element Analysis, 3D modelling, root cause investigation; system/subsystem/component design optimization, structural dynamics, development and optimization of Engine, Aftertreatment, Battery, Fuel Cell, Powertrain, and/or Machine System performance.
* Test/Validation/Hands on: Apply strong mechanical engineering understanding in a test/validation (hands-on) environment, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with others for optimal results.
* Controls Development: Develop/Implement control system algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink for various control systems including but not limited to engine controllers, machine implement controllers as well as powertrain controllers. Will be responsible for understanding the feature requirement, implementing it as well as testing it prior to a production roll out.
* Electronic Components: Will be responsible for designing and testing various electronic control modules as well as various electronic components. Will work with various internal Caterpillar clients to understand controller/component requirements, help design Printed Circuit Board layouts as well as perform digital/analog/power circuit analysis and testing. Other duties may include working with suppliers, testing the controllers/components in various environments, ensuring that FMEA's [Failure Mode and Effects Analysis] are conducted and documented to meet stringent Caterpillar quality requirements.
* Embedded Software Development: Develop embedded software in C, C# and/or C++ for various electronic control modules. Some examples of embedded software development applications include Datalink communications, Inputs and Outputs [Sensors and actuators], speed calculation, injection/spark timing, memory management, CPU optimization, multi core design and implementation etc. In addition, some areas of work include developing scripts in Python/Visual Basic for automation.
* Software Validation/Verification for Electronic Systems: Verify functionality of a feature or control system algorithm on a HIL [Hardware in the Loop] simulator bench or a SIL [Software in the loop] system. Understand requirements of the feature and/or the schematics of the controller / control system, verify functionality and debug/report anomalies to the development team and help validate fixes.
* Engineering Data Analytics: Leverage ability to write and understand computer code, especially Python; apply knowledge of data analytics/data science, machine learning concepts/tools, and engineering and statistics fundamentals.
* Process Engineering: Apply mechanical, manufacturing, systems and/or industrial engineering knowledge to analyze and optimize an engineering process. Will have the opportunity to leverage problem-solving and communication skills.

As a Safety Intern you will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge and training in a real-world setting. Under supervision of the District Safety Manager or Project Safety Manager you will be assisting with facilitation of the company's safety program. As a safety intern you will learn about construction activities, scheduling, risk assessments, planning, and implement corrective measures as necessary.
What you will be doing

Support staff in assigned project‐based work
Maintains knowledge of Flatiron's company values and strategic plan

As a Power System Studies Intern, you will closely work with regional and global power systems teams to support system studies projects at various stages of their lifecycle (i.e. from the technical bid/proposal to execution, reports, client meetings/presentations, to close-out). You will gain exposure to a variety of clients including renewable developers, transmission owner/developers as well as utilities and blend your theoretical knowledge with practical application. You will perform power system studies both internal to the plant (including, but not limited to, load flow, short circuit, insulation coordination, TOV, arc flash and harmonics) and external to the plant (related to interconnection to ensure compliance with interconnection requirements as well as NERC standards).
To be successful in this role you will need to a solid foundation of technical knowledge in power system modeling and analysis. Ideally, you will have previous research or internship experience working with renewable generation while interning at an engineering firm or utility.
