INTEGRITY SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
The Polk County Sheriff's Office is seeking quality candidates who will embody the values and diversity of the community as a member of the agency. This program allows you the opportunity to be certified in both Law Enforcement and Corrections under the Dual Academy Scholarship Program or certified in Corrections only under the Detention Academy Scholarship Program.
While attending the Dual Academy (approximately eight months) or Detention Academy (approximately four months), the Sheriff's Office will provide a monthly stipend of $3,000 dollars per candidate (first and last month pro-rated). This program does not include health insurance or workers' compensation benefits, as you are not a member of the Sheriff's Office; however, it is required that you obtain some form of insurance while attending the Academy.
Individuals selected will receive a scholarship for tuition, books, uniforms, and exam cost. However, you will be expected to purchase the following list of items that are required for the Academy. The following costs are only estimates, as the total cost will depend on the quantity and name brand of the merchandise you decide to purchase. You will be required to purchase these items prior to orientation at Polk State College, Center for Public Safety, in Winter Haven. Upon graduating from either academy in good standing and successfully passing the state exams, you may be offered employment with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Once you are selected as a member of the Polk County Sheriff's Office, you will be assigned to the Department of Detention as a Detention Deputy for a minimum of two (2) years. Those who attend the Dual Academy and complete two (2) years as a certified Detention Deputy will be eligible to submit a request for transfer to the Department of Law Enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff if you meet the requirements outlined in the General Orders and maintain a good employment record while working in the Department of Detention.
To be considered for selection, applicants for the Integrity Scholarship Program (Dual Academy) shall establish and maintain a legal residence within the boundaries of Polk County, Florida. Applicants selected for the Integrity Scholarship Program (Detention Academy) may establish and maintain a legal residence outside the boundaries of Polk County, Florida.
While attending the Academy classes, you are representing the Polk County Sheriff's Office and you are expected to conduct yourself in a professional manner and adhere to ALL Polk County Sheriff's Office General Order policies while attending class, as well as outside of class. Misconduct or lack of integrity will not be tolerated and may result in termination from the scholarship program.

General Functions:
Participates in training activities associated with preparing for the Florida Public Safety Telecommunicators examinations for 911 Public Safety Telecommunicators (PST). Trainees must successfully complete all requirements for obtaining the Florida Public Safety Telecommunicators (PST) Certification Examination and the call taking assessment with Orange County Fire Rescue Communications.
Representative Duties/Assignments:
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
* Receives 232 state-mandated training hours for PST.
* Attends and participates in the Emergency Telecommunicator Course (ETC) classes.
* Attends and participates in the Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) classes.
* Attends and participates in the Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) classes.
* Attends CPR training.
* Training on the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
* Training on the 911-phone system.
* Training on the 800 MHz radio system.
* Trainees must successfully complete the emergency call taking assessment within one (1) year of employment.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Penske's Logistics Trainee Program is our management trainee experience built specifically for individuals interested in supply chain careers, logistics operations, and leadership development. This structured program provides hands-on training across multiple logistics functions and prepares you for future leadership roles within Penske Logistics.

Our Program:
This position is an excellent opportunity for candidates who want to gain valuable experience to launch their career with Penske. Our comprehensive training program equips you with the skills needed for key tasks such as selection, loading/unloading of trailers, cross-docking, and customer service operations in a manner consistent with company services and cost objectives. Through hands-on experience will learn to properly plan work assignments to ensure effective use of warehouse equipment. Upon graduation from the program, you'll be prepared to lead a small group of hourly associates in a distribution center management operation.
• Ensure that all associates are motivated, engaged, trained and competent and understand how their work relates to the customers' business objectives.
• Foster a safe work environment by complying with and administering established safety and operational procedures.
• Understand the location-specific customer goals & objectives and work to meet and exceed these expectations daily
• Effectively resolve issues and monitor day-to-day operations for compliance using organizational and time management skills.
• Develop a through working knowledge of the site's operating systems to ensure compliance and exception resolution.
• Learn the Kaizen methodology and implement Lean processes.
• Analyze and apply basic principles of inventory management, receiving goods, storage of goods and shipping goods from a warehouse environment.
Qualifications:
•Willing to relocate based on business needs or upon completion of Logistics Trainee program.
• Bachelor's Degree required - In Business, Supply Chain, Data Science/Analytics or related field is a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership through school, your community, clubs/organizations, or the military
• Authorized to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor individuals for employment visa for these positions.
• Internship or related work experience in a customer-facing role preferred.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to learn and navigate various technology platforms.

Job Description
The training phases will clearly demonstrate a balance between the participants learning opportunities and their contributions to the organizations in which they are placed. The participant to be introduced to Omni restaurant outlet's operations and services to gain knowledge of Omni's overall service standards and how operational roles interrelate to create a successful restaurant operation and to provide exemplary guest service experience.
Responsibilities
The participant will be able to master the below responsibilities during the length of the program:
Phase 1: Restaurant Introduction
The overall goal for this phase is for the participant to be introduced to Omni restaurant outlet's operations and services in order to gain knowledge of Omni's overall service standards and how operational roles interrelate to create a successful restaurant operation and to provide exemplary guest service experience.
Phase 2: Volume Restaurant Demands:
The goal and objective are for the participant to become fully familiar with advanced Food and Beverage service standards that would typically be performed within the operations and specifically gain valuable exposure and experience with the demands and expectations during a high volume time period. By the end of this phase, the participant should have obtained increased confidence and an advancement in their techniques, organizational skills and knowledge.
Phase 3: Food & Beverage Leadership and Business Activities:
The goal of this phase if for the Trainee to wrap up their training experience with increased feedback and training, build their leadership skills. Specific objectives will be for the Trainee to:
Experience more feedback from customer service skills and finding solutions.
Be trained to handle customer comments, complaints, or concerns.
Attend weekly trainings for the months of June-August focusing on managing training materials.
Qualifications
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to multi task
Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 10lbs without assistance
Must be able to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Must have alcohol training certification (TIPS)
Must have Food Handler permit
