Our Mission: “To provide up-to-date, problem-based learning in the field of emergency medicine in a state-of-the-art facility, and to exceed the expected role of an emergency medicine advanced practice provider.” Program Overview: The Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Trainee (EMAT) program is a 10-to-12-month postgraduate training experience designed for newly graduated or non-emergency medicine trained Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants seeking advanced preparation for clinical practice in emergency medicine. Under the supervision of Department of Emergency Medicine faculty and senior advanced practice providers, trainees gain comprehensive exposure to the full spectrum of emergency care through clinical rotations, didactic education, and simulation-based training. Trainees participate in direct patient care, weekly didactic sessions alongside Brown's Emergency Medicine residents, and simulation-based learning to strengthen diagnostic and procedural skills in a wide range of emergency settings. Applications will be accepted through February 1, 2026. The anticipated start date for these positions is September 1, 2026.
