Under direct supervision, and in the capacity of trainee, performs variety of imaging examinations in Interventional Radiology; performs all duties of radiology technologist (RT) II as needed. Essential Responsibilities: * Performs digital angiographic imaging and other exams of select nature in interventional room; positions patients and provides immobilization preparation and patient counseling as required. Scrubs or circulates during procedures as required and assists physicians with catheter placement, instrument passage, instrument use and imaging agent administration. Reviews orders, prepares schedules and consults with attending Radiologists and Registered Nurses. Prepares floor stock medications. Maintains daily records of exams performed.
* Follows all National Patient Safety Goals. Receives and double identifies patients using appropriate criteria prior to performing the study ordered. Ensures accruacy of information and data entry, while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality. Prepares sterile fields, imaging agents, trays and instruments; ensures sterility of surgical packs, trays and disposables to be used in assigned area. Maintains appropriate and adequate supplies during the procedures.
* Selects technical factors appropriate to particular procedure being performed; ensures accuracy of patient identification information on all recorded images. Captures required documentation in Radiology Information System (RIS.) Prepares, loads, programs and operates the contrast injector. Assists with screening patients for contraindications.
* Assists radiologist during procedures and maneurvering mechanical equipment around the patient. Operates and understands all features and performance capabilities of the digital imaging system.
* Maintains working knowledge of all department equipment and devices. Reports equipment malfunctions appropriately.
* Assumes responsibilities for the needs of patient during procedure. Provides service-oriented communication with patient explaining procedure and answering questions. Emphasizes a personalized, individualized, compassionate patient care atmosphere at all times. Dismisses patients for transport and/or assists with patient transport at end of procedure.
* Provides instructions on appropriate safety measures to patients, family members, and hospital staff as required; ensures appropriate safety precautions are followed. Applies appropriate measures (ALARA Principles) for minimizing radiation exposure. Captures and records radiation dose delivered during the procedure.
* Serves as part of resuscitation team during Code Blue and/or Rapid Response Team situations.
* Maintains all materials needed and linen supply on daily basis; maintains general order and cleanliness of room assigned.
* Accepts responsibilities of direct supervision of student technologists during their clinical assignments.
* Rotates and shares call with another IR technologist until competency for independent call has been met.
* Pursues ongoing continuing education.
* Attends departmental meetings and/or inservice presentations as needed or required. Reads and initials minutes of such meetings when excused absence precludes attendance.

**Responsibilities**
PNNL's Physical Detection Systems and Deployment Division is focused on discovering, developing and deploying physical detection systems. We are seeking Masters students for assignments within the National Security Internship Program (NSIP).

Your internship will land you in one of the following focus areas:
**Advanced Engineered Systems**
We are a group of passionate makers who have a long history of building and deploying embedded sensor systems for a wide variety of sponsors and applications. We are 50+ electronics engineers, software engineers, mechanical engineers, physicists, etc.; all sharing the DNA and desire to deploy solutions for our sponsors that help the mission of national security. We focus on emerging technologies by integrating capability across electromagnetics, systems modeling, communications, analytics development, and systems design to serve as a flywheel for feeding technology advancements across the division and laboratory. Projects within the group range from mission focused, highly applied projects in support of national security to fundamental science projects.
**Detection Physics**
We represent PNNL's ultra-low background capability and develop some of the world's most sensitive radiation detection systems; driving solutions that span fundamental physics to treaty verification by integrating modeling, experimentation, data science, and support staff.
**Disruptive Technology**
We focus on the development of detection systems and data analysis techniques for a variety of missions ranging from fundamental physics to national security. Projects within the research group range from highly applied projects to fundamental science projects in the areas of nuclear/particle physics, electromagnetics, and novel sensor technology development.
**Engineered Materials**
We work on the design, synthesis, implementation, characterization, and monitoring of functional materials for national security missions leveraging chemistry, computations and models, data science, characterization tools, and non-destructive evaluation methods.
**Operational Readiness**
We steward capabilities associated with the mission assurance and operations and maintenance stage of the systems engineering lifecycle. Operational sustainment is achieved and transitioned through instructional systems, credibility assessment, logistics innovation, reliability and field engineering, and complex supply chain and interdependency analysis.
**Systems and Technology Integration**
We lead the Lab in bringing the most technology aligned, diverse, talented, and skilled project management and systems engineering staff who will do what it takes to expertly deliver on the national security detection requirements of our sponsors.
**Positions are available in Richland, WA and Seattle, WA, based on business need. Positions may also be performed remotely or on campus at PNNL based on business need.**

POSITION SUMMARY: The Technician Trainee 1 (ThinkBIG Pre-Apprentice) must successfully work within their role for 6 months to be eligible for the ThinkBIG Apprenticeship in fall 2026. The ThinkBIG Apprenticeship is a 5-year Scholarship/Apprenticeship program designed to give candidates both education and hands on experience. During participation in this program, students will be enrolled in technical and academic course work, working toward an AS degree in Diesel Technology from San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, CA. The remaining time is spent with one of our Service Departments at one of our branches in Hawai'i receiving paid on-the-job training (OJT). Once the AS degree is started, there is a five year stay agreement, which builds toward comletion of a combination of all school and OJT requirements needed to earn a journey-level certificate. During the first two years of the apprenticeship, students will rotate between attending school full-time at San Joaquin Delta College in California, and receiving OJT in Hawai'i.
Under the supervision of more senior technicians, the Technician Trainee 1 (ThinkBIG Pre-Apprentice) will perform duties as assigned by management in the repair, maintenance, and rebuilding of equipment in the service shop or field, in a safe, efficient, and capable manner in the least amount of labor hours necessary and without rework.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs all Caterpillar and allied product Preventative Maintenance services.
Performs technician duties as directed by a supervisor.
Follows and adheres to Hawthorne company policies.
Follows all safety measures.
Takes initiative.
Disassembles, cleans, and reassembles Caterpillar, allied product machines, and Ag& Turf and industrial products serviced by the Service Department.
Measures and identifies parts and components for reusability or replacement, ordering new parts as required.
Performs all requirements found in Caterpillar and other allied lubrication and maintenance and warranty guidelines.
Attends training classes as directed and obtains passing grades.
Completes Service Reports in a timely manner and in accordance with HPC standards.
Travel as required within HPC established territory.
Operates HPC service vehicles.
Adheres strictly to HPC safety, housekeeping, credit, and other rules, policies, and procedures.
Maintains a favorable business relationship with customers, suppliers, and personnel from other HPC departments.
