Summary:
The Accelerated Commercial Experience (ACE) Trainee is responsible for completing an intensive rotational training and development program that provides employees with a fast-tracked opportunity to gain broad exposure to multiple areas of business within the Electrical Distribution industry. This is accomplished through a series of diverse assignments, projects, and classroom training. Successful program completion could lead to placement in a commercial role which opens doors to several career paths, including sales, project management, operations, procurement, marketing, and more.
What You'll Do:
All rotations are a value-add to help us transform and grow our business and professionally develop you. Participants will complete various rotations in the following disciplines:
Warehouse/Logistics - Spend time learning the logistics of the warehouse. This can include filling customer orders, receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material
Sales - Complete several sales rotations focused on inside sales, outside sales, counter sales & other specialty sales as determined by region's business. These sales rotations will encompass customer service skills, product knowledge, sales skills, and savviness with digital tools
Operations - Identify levers that impact profitability, understand safety & facility maintenance protocols, use tools/data available to make sound business decisions, understand the trade working capital and customer service effects of maintaining a healthy inventory
Project Management - Gain hands on project management experience by establishing and owning the relationship with the customer, sales, and vendors, placing orders, tracking shipments, billing the customer, and maintaining clear and timely communication throughout the project. Learn how to review bid packages and formulate project quotations
Energy Solutions - This rotation is focused on quoting lighting project (both retrofitted and new construction), performing lighting audits geared towards providing a cost savings solution to the customer, designing lighting layouts, prospecting electric vehicle (EV) & datacom opportunities, and consulting as an overall energy expert in the field
Gain knowledge on the Automation business through a series of shadowing opportunities and prospecting opportunities to sell automation services packages to customers

Firefighter Trainee is the entry-level class in the Firefighter series, paid at $30.69/hr for a 40-hour workweek while attending the San Bernardino County Fire Tower (Academy). Trainees in the Tower learn and practice fire prevention and suppression; equipment and apparatus care, usage, safety, and maintenance; fire terminology, codes, policies, procedures and operations; and state and local laws.
Firefighter Paramedic Trainees work under training conditions in order to develop the knowledge and skills required to qualify for promotion to Firefighter Paramedic upon successful completion of a paramedic program and licensing.
Upon successful completion of the Tower, Trainees will be promoted to
Firefighter - Paramedic Trainee ($74,314.24-$99,968.96 /year
based on 56-hour workweek)
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Probationary Period: Successful completion of the San Bernardino County Fire Tower (Academy) is required, and includes completion of the Firefighter I Certification through the California State Fire Service Training and Education System. Upon successful completion of the above Tower, incumbents will be appointed to a Firefighter - Paramedic Trainee position.
Promotion: Incumbents in the Firefighter Paramedic Trainee classification are eligible for promotion to Firefighter Paramedic upon meeting the minimum qualifications with a satisfactory work performance evaluation. Employees must qualify for promotion to Firefighter Paramedic within 36 months or may be terminated.
During the period of Trainee appointment, the Trainee shall have probationary status, in accordance with the Personnel Rules of the Board Governed Special Districts. Appointments to the higher classification are subject to a new probationary period.
Certifications: Firefighter Paramedic Trainees must possess and maintain all job-required certifications, including CA EMT Certification and CPR.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform during high stress situations. Must be able to hear in the normal audio range, without correction. Must possess the strength and stamina sufficient to lift and carry equipment and individuals, and be able to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus. Vision must be correctable to 20/20. May be required to pass a color perception test. Must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
Other Requirements: Applicants will be fingerprinted and must pass a thorough background investigation which may include, but is not limited to, the following: fingerprinting for a Department of Justice criminal background check, polygraph, pre-employment psychological evaluation, DMV driving record check, military record check, reference checks, and review of prior employment history check. An applicant may be automatically disqualified for misrepresentation, falsification, or omission of pertinent facts in the screening/selection/background check process. * Beep Test- The beep test (multi-stage shuttle run) is a cardiovascular fitness assessment that requires candidates to run continuously between two markers set 20 meters apart in time with audio beeps. The pace increases at each level, and the test continues until the candidate can no longer maintain the required speed. The test measures aerobic endurance and stamina necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

During the first year: Review underwriting submissions and write the basic analysis of bond applicants' financial statements, collateral, and related due diligence. Find creative and analytical solutions to support branch underwriting activity. Complete the Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) certification.

Established in 2020, Heal.LA was designed by Larta Institute to provide expertise and support to entrepreneurs developing novel solutions that improve the health and wellness of Los Angeles communities. Now in its sixth year, the program focuses on three critical challenge areas currently (and these may change or get refined from year to year, based on observed data):

Launched in 2023, Venture Fellows builds on insights from Heal.LA and leverages Larta s 30+ years of leadership in climate and sustainability. This program is dedicated to advancing innovations that strengthen community resilience and adaptability to environmental challenges in Los Angeles County. Now in its third year, the program focuses on three challenge areas:
Weather-resilient urban infrastructure
Clean air solutions
Water conservation, access, and treatment
Key Responsibilities
As a Community Programs Intern, you will:
Learn about managing program and projects including process and workflows, best practices and task management, and tracking, assignment and decision-making processes.
Work within the Larta Community Programs Team, collaborating with program and Larta s ecosystem partners, small business founders, industry experts, and Larta staff
Support program operations and strategic initiatives, including conducting research, compiling data, supporting events, and creating presentations
Engage with startups from our Heal.LA or Venture Fellows programs to understand real-world innovation challenges and identify ways to support their growth
Contribute to impact tracking, storytelling, and documentation through written summaries, data tracking, content development, and evaluation support
Learn about commercialization pathways, innovation lifecycles, and the unique challenges of advancing community-driven science and technology
Interns will participate in an onboarding period with learning sessions to build foundational knowledge in innovation, impact frameworks, and project expectations.
Additional responsibilities include:
Supporting program management in planning, executing, and monitoring and tracking the program by the following activities:
Planning activities like developing curriculum and pilot program as well as program set-up activities.
Logistics of events and meetings.
Tracking deliverables, metrics and program data as well as generating status reports, such as compiling Heal and Venture Fellow needs assessments into reports
Conducting surveys and gathering feedback from innovators and other partners
Creation of PowerPoint presentations and marketing materials
Program communications, for example newsletter
Assist in compiling and maintaining program documentation, such as pilot progress tracking or translating contact spreadsheets into our CRM.
Identifying aligned organizations and nonprofits, such as local entities interested in experimenting with our Fellows innovations.
Assisting staff in matching subject matter experts and mentors with our entrepreneurs, as needed.
Conducting research and data compilation of local impact investors, potential funding sources and other post-program opportunities for our Fellows.
Writing short articles and stories about the entrepreneurial journey through our programs.

Qualifications & Experience

About This Role
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) ensures all operations at Varda are performed safely and effectively, without harming the environment. The EHS team is responsible for proactively identifying and mitigating physical, chemical, operational, and other hazards across Varda's spacecraft and pharmaceutical development and production processes.

Responsibilities
Lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) across engineering, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical operations to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and collaborate with teams to implement effective controls.
Drive safe handling of hazardous chemicals through the Hazard Communication (HazCom) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) programs
Maintain environmental compliance by guiding departments in the proper accumulation and disposal of hazardous waste
Conduct regular maintenance and inspection of safety systems and equipment (e.g., emergency eyewashes and showers, fire extinguishers, fire alarm and suppression systems)
Assist with emergency preparedness and response procedures (e.g., site emergency action plan, emergency drills, first aid/CPR/AED training)
Basic Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in occupational safety & health, environmental engineering/safety, or related field
Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, in a fast-paced work environment
Preferred Qualifications
