Job Summary
Monitor and control bulk power system under normal and emergency conditions in coordination and compliance with FERC, NERC, RFC, and PJM.
Job Responsibilities
• Promptly (real time) analyze disturbances on the Bulk Electric System to determine if NERC, DOE, RFC and PJM reporting is required

Role and Scope of Position:
Supervise and coach Eversource Outage Coordinators. This involves the analysis, coordination, and scheduling of transmission and distribution system outages using off line AC load flow analysis and applicable guidelines, procedures, and other transmission and distribution system reliability standards/rules to produce a workable maintenance outage schedule. Monitor system conditions, disturbances and security on an as needed basis and provide management input and operational guidance when necessary in a coaching and counseling manner on a day to day basis. Essential Functions:
* Direct and indirect supervision of the Outage Coordinators.

AES Ohio serves approximately 500,000 customers in a 6,000 square-mile service area in Southwest-Central Ohio. This includes 1,800 miles of transmission lines and over 150 substations. Under limited direction, the System Operator controls and operates the Company's transmission, substation and mainline distribution resources and monitors generation resources from a reliability perspective. Also achieves and maintains operating standards in compliance with all existing NERC, PJM and PUCO regulations, plus company safety and operating standards. Operates the transmission system, which includes responsibility for VAR flow, maintaining acceptable voltage levels, and monitoring for first contingency loading and voltage violations. Coordinates and directs all switching operations on the transmission, substation and mainline distribution system. This is a rotating shift work position that requires around the clock coverage. The current 12 hour schedule does will include some nights, weekends and holidays. Role and Scope of Position:
Supervise and coach Eversource Outage Coordinators. This involves the analysis, coordination, and scheduling of transmission and distribution system outages using off line AC load flow analysis and applicable guidelines, procedures, and other transmission and distribution system reliability standards/rules to produce a workable maintenance outage schedule. Monitor system conditions, disturbances and security on an as needed basis and provide management input and operational guidance when necessary in a coaching and counseling manner on a day to day basis. Will involve higher levels management in discussions of unusual events, real time or anticipated, as directed by System Operation management. Assist in management decision making during emergency restoration efforts.
Essential Functions:
Direct and indirect supervision of the Outage Coordinators.
Collaborates with partnering company departments and supporting functional areas
In the absence of higher levels of management, or as required due to stressed transmission system operating conditions, provides guidance to control room personnel.
Leads and/or attends planning meetings of routine and major transmission and distribution system outages with a goal of maintaining safety and reliability while maximizing work and minimizing cost.
Responsible for the preparation of participant and member company intermediate transmission system outage plan and requirements, ISO-NE intermediate transmission outage plans and requirements, and Eversource area generation availability.
Ensures a coordinated safe, efficient, and reliable outage schedule; ensures planned outages do not adversely affect the security of the system.
Prepares and distributes reports and documentation of transmission work as required to review, coordinate, and communicate outage schedule details with appropriate internal and external contacts; Prepares reports of significant events or issues, as requested by System Operations management.
Reviews and performs computer simulation studies of the more complicated facility outage requests.
Represents Eversource at transmission coordination meetings such as those held by member companies and neighboring TOPs for planning of future projects.
Represents Eversource at various ISO Ne, NPCC and NERC committee and subcommittee assignments
Accepts and reviews Outage and Energization (O&E) Plans from transmission projects and ensures proper routing and development of the O&E plan by the Outage Coordinators.
Periodically performs a review of preliminary outages to look for possible conflicts that should be resolved prior to the outages becoming firm; works with the appropriate work requestor's to provide resolution.
Works closely with Operations Support Groups to ensure System configuration changes are updated in the Energy Management System (EMS) and reflected in Operating Instructions, Procedures and Guidelines and in a timely manner: Provides input for the development of operating policies and procedures.
Represents Eversource on ISO-NE outage coordination working groups.
Interfaces with System Operations management to ensure the resolution of system operating issues including personnel and equipment safety, reliability, adherence to operating requirements, and congestion management.
Assists, as required by management, in the coordination of response to system emergencies including Capacity Deficiency, storm response etc.
Conducts Oral Progress Interviews with Outage Coordinators to ensure initial training effectiveness.

We are seeking Undergraduate and Graduate Student Co-ops to support research, development, and engineering activities of the Navigation Research and Development Division (NRDD) part of The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at The Pennsylvania State University, located in Warminster, PA,
Penn State's Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is a Department of Defense (DoD) designated University Affiliated Research Center (UARC), which serves as a center of research excellence in a multitude of areas. ARL conducts basic and applied research, exploratory development, and advanced development in support of the U.S. government organizations; contributes to the educational objectives and research goals of Penn State; and promotes the transfer of advanced technology to the U.S. government.
NRDD is a satellite campus of ARL focused on developing the most advanced navigation technologies in the world, built around unique laboratories specially designed to test the most precise navigation sensors and systems. The mission of the NRDD is to conduct new navigation technology research and development, systems engineering and to provide expert knowledge for our Navy, Army, and other U.S. government sponsors.
You will:
* You will support laboratory operations related to the development, testing, and evaluation of navigation systems
* You will be working with a cooperative team of scientists and engineers responsible for a mix of hands on work with electrical circuitry, embedded software and/or FPGA firmware development
* Co-ops in these positions work on several projects such as designing and building hardware to interface with state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation, programming software to interface with this equipment, software for logging/processing test data, real time programming of mathematical algorithms, analyzing data and conducting live tests of sensors
* You will learn or strengthen practical skills such as electrical circuit design and troubleshooting, drafting electrical schematics, solid modeling, hardware interfacing, and electrical fabrication
Undergraduate and Graduate students studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering are preferred.
Students must be available to work at the Warminster facility for a six month time period.

Transmission Line Subject Matter Expert Exciting opportunity for technical Transmission Line Engineers to support a major utility as an Owner's Representative with the chance to work remotely with up to 25% travel for site visits and to HQ! The TLine SME position is a remote technical position covering all aspects of transmission line design and construction. The applicant will be actively engaged in team meetings and projects where communication and a team-oriented mindset are critical. Less experienced team members look to the TLine SME team for technical guidance and leadership. The applicant must be able to assert accurate responses within project timeframes.
The TLine SME team consists of multiple disciplines, the applicant must be comfortable engaging other TLine SME expertise as needed to provide the best responses to the Project Engineers. Applicants must have one area of expertise and be capable and enthusiastic to learn areas outside their expertise.
Remote Work Expectations
To be successful working remotely, applicants will need an aggressive mindset. The independence of remote work can isolate passive personalities. The successful applicant will be required to have a dedicated workspace free from distractions. The TLine SME working hours are typically 9-5 EST Monday through Friday regardless of the applicant's time zone.
Responsibilities
+ Provide A+ technical support to the Project Engineering teams while maintaining the schedule & budget of assigned projects.
+ Use in depth Transmission line knowledge, teamwork, and engineering judgement to respond to project RFIs.
+ Developing, interpreting, & implementing Transmission line standards.
+ Lead and Mentor Project Engineers to better understand technical requirements.
+ Identify and drive opportunities for process improvement.
Requirements
+ B.S. in Engineering with a deep knowledge of at least one Transmission discipline.
+ Minimum of 8yrs technically supporting a variety of transmission line projects at 230kV or above.
+ Excellent communication skills! Able to convey complex ideas both written and verbally.
+ Aggressive and team-oriented mindset.
+ Willingness to learn new things and work outside of your comfort zone.
+ Assertive leadership qualities proven through project work.
+ Successful experience working with diverse teams.
+ Strong problem-solving skills with a sense of urgency.
+ Ability to make informed independent decisions which are not regularly subject to technical review.

This Supervisor position is responsible for the administration and oversight of the Project Managers in the FE Transmission Project Management department, and reports to the Manager, Transmission Project Management.
The Supervisor position can report to multiple locations- Akron, Reading, Greensburg, Morristown, Holmdel or Morgantown.
Responsibilities include:
Ensuring there is a complete team and individual commitment to safety in all areas of work.

Supervising a staff of Project Managers (both internal and external), while providing leadership and direction that results in successful projects which meet, enhance and contribute to the overall goals of FET and FE.
Directing daily activities of project managers and technical personnel.
Directing and developing staff, and participating in the development of the overall direction and goals of the department.
Overseeing a positive work atmosphere that promotes individual development and operates within the FirstEnergy Rules of Engagement and Code of Ethics.
Monitoring employee satisfaction and managing performance and development.
Ensuring adherence to all applicable policies and practices, including but not limited to the Manual of Operations, FE Construction Standards and the Accident Prevention Handbook.

Qualifications include:
Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Construction Management or related field. Consideration will be given to applicants having extensive multi-disciplined and technical and operational background in lieu of a college degree.
Must have minimum of 5 years' experience in project organization with background in engineering, finance, project management, construction, or project controls.
Knowledge of project management concepts and processes.
Experience with a project management tool such as Primavera or MS Project is a plus.
Detailed Project Controls experience is a definite plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical ability are required.

FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.
The estimated pay range for this role is $118,150- $166,800. The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range $141,780 - $200,160.
