Job Summary:
Cornerstone Systems is seeking a dedicated on-site Transportation Representative for our office located in Canfield, OH. The Surface Transportation Representative will report to the Branch Manager and will be responsible for all operational support, as well as sales initiatives and accounting tasks. The Transportation Representative will be accountable for helping build and maintain carrier and customer relationships, as well as ensuring the day to day execution of operations. Responsibilities:
Follow up on load statuses and assure deliveries are made.
Evaluate and provide shipping instructions to the service provider.
Review documents submitted by carriers to assure accuracy, detail, and completeness.
Release load for billing when the load has been delivered and all information is accurate.
Manage, service, and grow current customer/carrier relationships.
Ensure compliance with all SOPs and daily adherence to requirements.
Source carrier capacity as needed to cover customer freight.
Understand market trends and seasonality of capacity.
Develop carrier relationships and contacts at multiple levels (dispatch, sales, and owner).
Understand the customer's shipping needs; identify service and/or cost improvement opportunities, and execute their highest priority initiatives.
Negotiate rates, find pain points and provide solutions to help the customer benefit from their supply chain.
Convert new carrier relationships into repeat business.
Prospect new sales opportunities, establish customer and carrier relationships, negotiate rates, problem solve and close loads to build personal book of business.
Prospect customers, source carriers, negotiate rates, problem solve, and manage problems.
Document and manage problematic events and issues during the life of a load. Escalate issues to the proper people at the right time. Seek input to determine best course of action and implement solutions.
When needed, must be willing to input shipment data in TMS and manage shipment from pickup to delivery.
Create new solutions to existing partnerships by further developing customer and carrier relationships; always ask questions, listen, never be satisfied.

4. Monitors and or assists the driver in supervising students and maintains discipline when
students are on the bus/van.
5. Transports only authorized students, including any prearranged changes, and discharges students only at authorized stops. Drivers may need to transport additional students on an emergency basis.
6. Reports discipline problems to the bus driver or to the appropriate principal and Transportation Supervisor.
7. Helps the driver keep assigned bus/van clean.
8. Helps keep to assigned schedule.
9. Exercises responsible judgment at all times.
10. Follows all regulations against smoking and eating on the bus or van.
11. Notifies the Transportation Supervisor when lateness or absence from work is necessary.
12. Completes required daily/monthly reports and submits them to the Transportation Supervisor.
13. Promotes a cooperative and professional attitude among colleagues.
14. Performs such other duties as directed by the Transportation Supervisor.
15. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about

• High School Graduate.
• Valid Ohio Commercial Driver=s License with school bus endorsement/trainer validation or ability to earn.
• Transportation industry experience - public or private.
• Knowledge of Ohio school bus construction and maintenance standards.
CONTRACT: 240 days: 20 days before first student day, school year, 20 days after last student day, and other days as assigned.
Start date of August 1, 2026.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinate the complete transportation service of students of the school district, including routes and stops.
2. Provide for a continuous maintenance program for all district vehicles, and the needed documentation to show the
status of this on any vehicle at any time.
3. Requisition all supplies and equipment needed to implement the continuous vehicle maintenance program.
4. Provides for pre-inspection and completion of all required state forms regarding pupil transportation.
5. Write specifications, in conjunction with the mechanic, for all district vehicles. For school buses such specifications
must follow Ohio Department of Education construction standards.
6. Maintain, in conjunction with the Treasurer, all vehicle and parts inventory, daily miles traveled, students transported,
and annual operating cost by vehicle for regularly scheduled routes.
7. Maintain record of destination, annual miles, and costs of non-routine use of Board owned vehicles.
8. Verify that all drivers meet the requirements of the laws of the State of Ohio and regulations of the Ohio Department
of Education.
9. Maintain an ongoing training program for bus drivers to ensure a safe and efficient transportation program. Maintain
a driver=s manual for each driver.
10. Evaluate all drivers and other transportation department employees annually in accordance with the negotiated
agreement or Board policy.
11. Report, in writing, to the Superintendent about transportation department events on the determined schedule.
Attend designated Board and Transportation meetings.
12. Prepare a route description map and system to provide each driver needed information. This includes: stop location,
bus arrival time (am/pm), driver name, medical alert, and overall route order, and school of attendance. Stop and
location bus arrival time provided for each student.
13. Works in conjunction with the elementary school principal to implement required school bus safety program and/or
safety town.
14. Participates in area transportation director meetings and organizations.
15. Recruits and calls substitute bus drivers and mechanics.
16. Works with mechanic to ensure buses are prepared for annual inspection.
17. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
