Description: Help children safely board the bus. Help special needs children into their seats. Make sure wheelchairs, seat belts, car seats, and booster seats are installed correctly. Cope with behaviorally impaired children
Probationary Period: 120 work days

Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Less than one year related experience
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to have full control with bus discipline at all times

Essential Functions:
Help maintain positive control over the students transported on the school bus
Observe mandatory safety regulations for school buses
Help maintain pupil control and report any violations to the proper authorities as prescribed
Notify the supervisor in case of illness so as to permit time to secure a substitute
Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, conversation, and the clean/orderly appearance of the school bus
Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student medical records, etc.
Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
Attend meetings and in-services as required
Serve as a role model for students
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Report all accidents and complete required reports
Enforce applicable Board policies
Attend bus driver meetings and be available in the event of emergency dismissal
Conduct rear door emergency evacuation drills
Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
Perform other duties as assigned

Wheelchairs, child car and booster seat mechanisms, child restraint (harness)
Additional Working Conditions:
Frequent exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
Frequent interaction among unruly children
Occasional extensive sitting, up to 2 hours at a time
Frequently move around workspace and travel throughout school building
Frequently move and position self as necessary to access and operate equipment
Occasional requirement to lift and carry up to a maximum of 65 pounds
Occasional requirement to push and pull up to a maximum of 300 pounds (on wheels)
Occasional overtime work will be requested and expected of the employee
Employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance, use in the workplace throughout his/her employment with the District.

Supervisor responsibilities and duties
· Responsible for staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution.· Direct daily responsibilities for managing all bus routes, scheduling, and direct supervision of all staff assigned to transportation.· Transport children/ youth and adults, to and from ACE Wellness facility and home in the mornings and afternoons-· Always maintain a clean and mechanically-sound bus· Obey all traffic laws· Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route· Maintain records of vehicle use and maintenance.· Ensure drivers fulfill duties and routes· Discipline children when required to maintain a safe and healthy environment· Coordinate tracking of all relevant information on drivers, such as license status, traffic tickets and other risk and safety related data.· Hold regularly scheduled safety meetings
Supervisor qualifications and skills:
· Clean driving record (no traffic citations in last 5 years)· No at-fault traffic accidents in the last 5 years· 1+ years' experience driving a school bus (training provided for the right candidate)· High school diploma or GED preferred· Ability to carry out assigned route on time· Excellent communication skills· Related keywords: driver, passenger driver, passenger transit· May require sitting for long periods of time
