**Overview**

The Transportation Manager, is responsible for the implementation, execution and ongoing oversight of the transportation strategy with regard to achieving the desired level of service, quality and cost established for the company and market for which they manage. Accountable for improving quality and reducing cost in support of supply chain mission. This position provides management oversight for both private fleet and outsourced transportation providers. As required, attends, and represents the supply chain in customer meetings. Specific responsibilities include day-to-day management of private fleet, and 3PL providers including the review and approval of payments for services; evaluation of routing criteria; reducing cycle time and cycle time variability with inbound & outbound deliveries and meeting or exceeding the service metrics established for the market.

Qualifications

Requires 4 - 6 years experience with Transportation, Logistics, Warehouse Supervision or Supply Chain analytics. Must have ability to communicate, persuade and influence others as well as the ability to present data in a concise and proficient manner. Box Truck fleet management. DOT qualified preferred (must be able to support the fleet in any and all aspects).

The Traffic Manager position requires an individual capable of functioning effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Traffic Manager spends a large percentage of time managing logistics functions. The Traffic Manager plays an active role in motivating driver performance and is responsible for fair and consistent implementation of company policies.
Major Tasks Performed:
• Ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective deliveries for internal and external customers
• Ensure optimal tractor/trailer utilization
• Develop and maintain Contract transportation Services (CTS) budget for the DSC
• Maintain CTS cost and service goals, and report progress on monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Supervise drivers and owner operators, as well as dispatchers and customer service
• Responsible for continually identifying and implementing transportation service and cost improvements
• Maintain and review LTL carrier performance
• Conduct quarterly safety meetings with all drivers
• Support continuous improvement efforts for fleet in the five focus areas of Operational Excellence: Safety, People, Service, Quality and Cost
• Support the goal of maintaining VPP certification
• Lead and champion sustainability efforts of the fleet
Basic Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have the legal right to work in this country now or in the future without needing sponsorship for employment visa status
Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or at least 4 years of work experience
Must have at least 3 years of experience in the Transportation industry
Must have at least 5 years of supervisory/managerial experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in supporting or maintaining VPP
Experience with Six Sigma or other continuous improvement tools
Experience with ISO
Experience leading sustainability efforts
